Devil's Lake State Recreation Area
Devil's Lake State Recreation Area (also Devil's Lake State Park) is a state park in the U.S. state of Oregon, administered by the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department. It is the only coastal Oregon State park with a campground located in a city. The campground area is located at the southwest shore of Devils Lake in Lincoln City, and the day use area is on the south shore. The park provides kayaks for those participating in summer guided kayak wildlife tours. Activities include camping (RV, tent, yurt, and biker), boat, water skiing, swimming, and personal watercraft. Lincoln County, Oregon
Lincoln County is one of the 36 counties in the U.S. state of Oregon. As of the 2020 census, its population was 50,395. The county seat is Newport. The county is named for Abraham Lincoln, 16th president of the United States. Lincoln County includes the Newport, Oregon Micropolitan Statistical Area. History Lincoln County was created by the Oregon Legislative Assembly on February 20, 1893, from the western portion of Benton and Polk counties. The county adjusted its boundaries in 1923, 1925, 1927, 1931, and 1949. At the time of the county's creation, Toledo was picked as the temporary county seat. In 1896 it was chosen as the permanent county seat. Three elections were held to determine if the county seat should be moved from Toledo to Newport. Twice these votes failed—in 1928 and 1938. Lincoln City, Oregon
Lincoln City is a city in Lincoln County on the Oregon Coast of the United States, between Tillamook to the north and Newport to the south. It is named after the county, which was named in honor of former U.S. President Abraham Lincoln. The population was 9,815 at the 2020 Census. History Lincoln City was incorporated on March 3, 1965, uniting the cities of Oceanlake and Taft, and the unincorporated communities of Cutler City and Nelscott. Oregon Parks And Recreation Department
The Oregon Parks and Recreation Department (OPRD), officially known (in state law) as the State Parks and Recreation Department, is the government agency of the U.S. state of Oregon which operates its system of state parks. In addition, it has programs to protect and provide public access to natural and historic resources within the state, including the State Historic Preservation Office, Oregon Heritage Commission, Oregon Commission on Historic Cemeteries, recreation trails, the Ocean Shores Recreation Area, scenic waterways and the Willamette River Greenway. Devils Lake is a small lake in Lincoln County, Oregon, United States, along the Oregon Coast. It separates the northern part of Lincoln City from the Central Oregon Coast Range. It is 1/3 of a mile wide, three miles (5 km) long, and up to deep. The D River flows from the lake westward to the Pacific Ocean. D River State Recreation Site (also D River State Wayside and D River State Park) is a state park in the U.S. state of Oregon, administered by the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department. It is a sandy beach of the Pacific Ocean within central Lincoln City along the length of the long D River, one of the world's shortest rivers. Description The site provides public access to Wecoma Beach, part of Lincoln City's of beach. There is parking and day use facilities, and no fees. The site has access to river and ocean fishing. Two of the world's largest kite flying festivals are held here, one in the spring and one in the fall, as well as a summer kite festival which features several professional kite fliers.
