Deutsche Eishockey Liga
The Deutsche Eishockey Liga (for sponsorship reasons called Penny (supermarket), PENNY Deutsche Eishockey Liga) (; English: ''German Ice Hockey League'') or DEL, is a professional ice hockey league in Germany and the highest division in German ice hockey. Founded in 1994, it was formed as a replacement for the Eishockey-Bundesliga and became the new top-tier league in Germany as a result. Unlike the old Bundesliga, the DEL is not under the administration of the Deutscher Eishockey-Bund, German Ice Hockey Federation. Teams from the DEL participate in the International Ice Hockey Federation, IIHF's annual Champions Hockey League (CHL), competing for the European Trophy. Participation is based on the strength of the various leagues in Europe (excluding the European/Asian Kontinental Hockey League). Düsseldorfer Eislauf-Gemeinschaft or Düsseldorfer EG (short DEG) is a German professional ice hockey team in Düsseldorf. It was Germany's most successful hockey club for a long time and had many international players. The famous Eisstadion at the Brehmstrasse was the home venue for most of the team's history. The team now plays in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (German Ice Hockey League, abbreviated DEL); the home venue is the PSD Bank Dome. Lukas Reichel (born 17 May 2002) is a German professional ice hockey left winger for the Chicago Blackhawks of the National Hockey League (NHL). Playing career Reichel played as a youth in the German Development League (DNL) with Starbulls Rosenheim and within the Eisbären Berlin organization. He made his Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL) debut with Eisbären Berlin during the 2019–20 season. He was drafted by the Chicago Blackhawks in the first round of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft with the 17th overall pick. Tim Stützle (surname alternately spelled Stuetzle; born 15 January 2002) is a German professional ice hockey centre for the Ottawa Senators of the National Hockey League (NHL). Rated one of the top prospects available for the 2020 NHL entry draft, he was selected third overall by the Ottawa Senators. Playing career Stützle played junior hockey for the Krefelder EV 1981. Dominik Kahun (born 2 July 1995) is a Czech-born German professional ice hockey forward who is currently playing with Lausanne HC of the National League (NL).
