Dennis Taylor (born 19 January 1949) is a Northern Irish retired professional snooker player and current commentator. He turned professional in 1972 and won the 1985 World Snooker Championship, in which he lost the first eight frames of 1985 World Snooker Championship final, the final to defending champion Steve Davis but recovered to win 18–17 in a duel on the last . The final's conclusion attracted 18.5 million viewers, setting UK viewership records for any post-midnight broadcast and for any broadcast on BBC Two that still stand. Dennis Taylor (12 June 1921 in Sidcup, Kent – 2 June 1962 in Monte Carlo, Monaco) was a British racing driver from England. He competed in 500cc Formula 3 from 1952 to 1954. His single World Championship Formula One entry was at the 1959 British Grand Prix driving his Formula 2 Lotus 12, and he failed to qualify. Dennis Taylor (November 13, 1953October 17, 2010) was an American musician, arranger, and author. He had recording credits on saxophone (alto, tenor, and baritone) as well as on clarinet and as an arranger. Career Taylor was born in Barton, Vermont northeast of Montpelier. He studied music at the Berklee College of Music in Boston. Career Taylor was known for his recordings with Delbert McClinton, Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown, Michelle Shocked, Buckwheat Zydeco, and many others. Taylor wrote a series of instructional books through Hal Leonard, a publishing company, in which he discussed blues playing, jazz playing, and phrasing. He played on five Grammy Award nominated albums and was a two-time nominee for the Nashville Music Awards, "Miscellaneous Wind Instrumentalist of the Year".
