Denis O'Riordan Cup
The Denis O'Riordan Cup is an annual hurling competition organised by the Cork County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association and contested by divisional and university sides in the county of Cork in Ireland, deciding the competition winners through a group stage and knockout format. Imokilly are the reigning champions, having beaten Muskerry by 6–31 to 0–17 in the 2024 final. History A restructuring process of the entire Cork hurling championship system had been underway since voted on by Cork County Board delegates in March 2019. From 2020, the participating divisions and colleges held their own series of games, designed to produce one team to advance to the quarter-final stages of the championship proper. 2024 Cork Premier Senior Hurling Championship
The 2024 Cork Premier Senior Hurling Championship was the fifth staging of the Cork Premier Senior Hurling Championship and the 136th staging overall of a championship for the top-ranking hurling teams in Cork. The draw for the group stage placings took place on 14 December 2023. The championship ran from 4 June to 20 October 2024. Sarsfields were the defending champions The final was played on 20 October 2024 at SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh in Cork, between Imokilly and Sarsfields, in what was their second meeting in the final overall and a first final meeting in since the 1997 final. The Cork Premier Senior Hurling Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the Co-Op Superstores Cork Premier Senior Hurling Championship and abbreviated to the Cork PSHC) is an annual club hurling competition organised by the Cork GAA, Cork County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association and contested by the top-ranking senior clubs and amalgamated teams in the County Cork, county of Cork in Ireland, deciding the competition winners through a group and knockout format. Hurling (, ') is an outdoor team game of ancient Gaelic Irish origin, played by men and women. One of Ireland's native Gaelic games, it shares a number of features with Gaelic football, such as the field and goals, the number of players and much terminology. Páirc Uí Rinn (), also known as Páirc Chríostóir Uí Rinn, is a Gaelic Athletic Association stadium located between Ballinlough and Ballintemple in Cork. It was previously known as Flower Lodge and was used as an association football stadium. During the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s, Flower Lodge served as the home ground of three League of Ireland clubs – Cork Hibernians, Albert Rovers and Cork City. Brian Lawton (born 9 December 1988) is an Irish hurler who plays as a left wing-forward for club side Castlemartyr, divisional side Imokilly and at inter-county level with the Cork senior hurling team. Playing career College Lawton first came to prominence as a hurler with Midleton CBS Secondary School. Having played for various college team in every grade, he was at midfield on the senior team. On 12 March 2006, Lawton won a Harty Cup medal after a 2-08 to 0-12 defeat of St. Flannan's College. Avondhu GAA is a Gaelic football and hurling division in the north of Cork, Ireland. The division includes teams such as Charleville, Mallow, Fermoy, and Mitchelstown. Carrigdhoun GAA is one of the eight baronies or Gaelic Athletic Association divisions that make up Cork. The division is made up of eleven Gaelic Athletic Association teams, making it one of the smaller divisions. The division is also known as the South East division. It extends from just south of Cork city down to Ballinspittle in the south of the county. Valley Rovers GAA Club is a Gaelic Athletic Association club in the parish of Innishannon in County Cork, Ireland. The club was formed in 1919 when two teams in the parish, Innishannon and Knockavilla, came together. The club fields teams in hurling, camogie, Gaelic football and Ladies' football. Muskerry GAA is a Gaelic football and hurling division located in the middle region of County Cork, Ireland. It is one of eight divisions of Cork GAA County Board. The division includes clubs from areas to the west of Cork city stretching to the county bounds with Kerry. Its name is derived from the ancient Gaelic kingdom of Múscraige which, following the Norman conquest, now encompasses the baronies of Muskerry West and Muskerry East.
