Democratic People's Party (Montenegro)
The Democratic People's Party (, DNP) is a Serb interests political party in Montenegro. History The Democratic People's Party was founded in 2015 from the former Socialist People's Party (SNP) faction led by Milan Knežević and Predrag Bulatović which left the Party and joined the Democratic Front alliance as an independent group, prior the October 2012 parliamentary election. DNP currently has four MPs in the Parliament of Montenegro elected from the list of the Democratic Front alliance on 2016 election. On 9 May 2019, paty leader Knežević, along with 13 another people found guilty by the Higher Court for the allegedly " plotting to commit terrorist acts and undermine the constitutional order of Montenegro on the day of 2016 parliamentary election." Milan Knežević (Serbian Cyrillic: Милан Кнежевић; born 24 March 1980) is a Montenegro, Montenegrin politician and poet. He is the founder and current president of the right-wing Democratic People's Party (Montenegro), Democratic People's Party, a member of presidency of the opposition Democratic Front (Montenegro), Democratic Front alliance, current Мember of the Parliament of Montenegro and the President of the Parliamentary Board for Defence and Security. 2018 Montenegrin Presidential Election
Presidential elections were held in Montenegro on 15 April 2018. Former Prime Minister Milo Đukanović, leader of the ruling DPS was elected as new President of Montenegro in the first round. Electoral system The president is elected using the two-round system; if no candidate receives a majority of the vote in the first round, a run-off is held two weeks later. In order to submit their candidacy to the State Electoral Commission, potential candidates needed to collect 7,993 signatures. President is elected every five years, and is eligible for two terms. 2013 Montenegrin Presidential Election
Presidential elections were held in Montenegro on 7 April 2013. Incumbent President Filip Vujanović of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) was challenged by independent candidate Miodrag Lekić, who was a common candidate endorsed by the opposition. New Serb Democracy (NSD), officially abbreviated as NOVA, is a Serbian nationalist right-wing political party in Montenegro, formed on 24 January 2009 as a merger between Serb People's Party and the People's Socialist Party of Montenegro.
