The Democracy and Progress Party (, DEVA) is a Turkish political party founded on 9 March 2020 under the leadership of Ali Babacan, a former economy minister under the AKP. The official abbreviation is "DEVA" (''Remedy'' in Turkish) according to the party records. The party's logo is a water droplet, inside a silhouette of sapling. Ali Babacan
Ali Babacan (; born 4 April 1967) is a Turkish politician, economist, and engineer. He is the founder and current leader of the Democracy and Progress Party (DEVA). He served 13 years as the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Economy, Chief Negotiator for the EU and Deputy Prime Minister of Turkey from 2002 to 2015. He was a member of the parliament as well. He first served as the Minister of State in charge of economic affairs in the 58th cabinet from the Justice and Development Party (AKP). He retained this position throughout the 58th and 59th Governments of the Republic of Turkey. On 29 August 2007 he was appointed as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the 60th Government of the Republic of Turkey. 2023 Turkish Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections were held in Turkey on 14 May 2023, alongside presidential elections, to elect all 600 members of the Grand National Assembly. The incoming members formed the 28th Parliament of Turkey. The elections had originally been scheduled to take place on June 18, but the government moved them forward by a month to avoid coinciding with the university exams, the Hajj pilgrimage and the start of the summer holidays. Prior to the election, the electoral threshold for a party to enter parliament was lowered from 10% to 7% by the ruling party. The elections were contested by a total of 24 political parties. Some parties decided to participate in the elections as part of an electoral alliance, many of which were formed for the previous 2018 election and had been expanded since. Ali ibn Abi Talib (; ) was the fourth Rashidun caliph who ruled from until Assassination of Ali, his assassination in 661, as well as the first imamate in Shia doctrine, Shia Imam. A ''tariqa'' () is a religious order of Sufism, or specifically a concept for the mystical teaching and spiritual practices of such an order with the aim of seeking , which translates as "ultimate truth". Selma Aliye Kavaf (born 1 July 1962) is a Turkish politician. She is the former Minister of State Responsible for Women and Family Affairs, and a member of parliament for Denizli of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP). Nihat Ergün (born 14 September 1962, in İzmit) is a Turkish politician and the former Minister of Science, Industry and Technology. Ergün completed primary, middle, and high school in İzmit. He graduated from the Marmara University's Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences in 1984. During his high school and university education, he participated in several political and social activities. After finishing the university, Ergün worked in the fields of free trade, accounting, consultancy and management advisory services. Sadullah Ergin (born 6 July 1964) is a Turkish people, Turkish politician. Born to Mehmet İsmet Ergin and Hatice Ergin in Antakya. He completed his primary and secondary education there and then studied at the Uludağ University Economics and Social Sciences Faculty in Bursa for one year. He continued his studies at the Ankara University Faculty of Law, graduating in 1987. Following the completion of his military service, he served as a lawyer for the Regional Directorate for Foundations of Hatay for five years. He resigned in 1995 and began to work as a self-employed lawyer. He has been at the management position of several association and societies.
