''Defender'' is a 1981 horizontally scrolling shooter video game developed by Williams Electronics for arcades. The game is set on either an unnamed planet or city (depending on platform) where the player must defeat waves of invading aliens while protecting astronauts. Development was led by Eugene Jarvis, a pinball programmer at Williams; ''Defender'' was Jarvis's first video game project and drew inspiration from ''Space Invaders'' and ''Asteroids''. ''Defender'' was demonstrated in late 1980 and was released in March 1981. It was distributed in Japan by Taito. ''Awakened'' is the sixth studio album by American metalcore band As I Lay Dying. It is the final album released by the band before their hiatus in 2014. The album was released on September 25, 2012, through Metal Blade Records. The album was produced by Bill Stevenson (the drummer of Descendents) and recorded at The Blasting Room in Fort Collins, Colorado and Lambesis Studios in San Diego, California. On June 22, 2012, the album title, release date, and first single were announced. On June 25, the first single "Cauterize" was released for free download and became available online for purchase the following day. On June 27, a lyric video for "Cauterize" was released along with album artwork. ''Fighting the World'' is the fifth album by the American heavy metal band Manowar, released in February 1987 by ATCO Records. This was the first Manowar album to feature artwork by long-time collaborator Ken Kelly, and also one of the earliest heavy metal albums to be recorded and mixed entirely on digital equipment. Since ''Fighting the World'', all Manowar album covers have been painted by Ken Kelly. Background ''Fighting the World'' was the first Manowar album to be digitally recorded and mixed entirely with a 32-track digital machine at Universal Recording Studios in Chicago, Illinois. The song "Defender" features a speech by American actor Orson Welles. The album was released two years after Welles died and is dedicated to him. The recording of Welles' speech was re-used from the original 1982 demo of the song. ''Pac-Man Fever'' is a 1982 album recorded by Buckner & Garcia. Each song on the album is about a different arcade game and uses sound effects from that game. The album was originally released on LP, cassette, and 8-track tape in January 1982, and was later completely re-recorded for re-release on CD in 1999 and 2002. The title song, " Pac-Man Fever", was released as a single in December 1981 and became a top 10 hit, peaking at #9 in March 1982 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 and earning gold certification by the RIAA for selling over one million copies; the single sold 2.5 million copies in total as of 2008. It had been released independently earlier in the year on the BGO Records label, before being picked up by CBS. The Defenders are a set of superhero groups with rotating membership appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. They are usually presented as a "non-team" of individualistic "outsiders" who, in their prior adventures, are known for following their own agendas. The team often battle mystic and supernatural threats. Its original incarnation was led by Doctor Strange and included Hulk, Namor, and Silver Surfer. They first appeared as the Defenders in '' Marvel Feature'' #1 (Dec. 1971), before receiving their own title, '' The Defenders'', in 1972. ''The Defender'' is a 1936 novel by F. J. Thwaites. It was his eighth novel. In 1937 the novel was reprinted in the United Kingdom. In 1937, it was announced a film version of the novel would be made at National Studios, following production of '' The Flying Doctor'', but the movie did not eventuate. There were allegations Thwaites plagiarised from a story in ''Master Detective'' magazine, "The Startling Mystery Aboard the SS Chinese Prince". The ''Foreigner'' series is a science fiction book series set in a fictional universe created by American writer C. J. Cherryh. The series centers on the descendants of a ship lost in transit from Earth en route to found a new space station. It consists of a series of semi-encapsulated trilogy arcs (or sequences) that focus on the life of Bren Cameron, the human ''paidhi'', a translator-diplomat to the court of the ruling atevi species.
