Dedham High School
Dedham High School is a public high school in Dedham, Massachusetts, United States, and a part of the Dedham Public Schools district. The school was founded in 1851 by the oldest public school system in the country. It earned a silver medal from '' U.S. News & World Report'' in 2017, ranked as the 48th-best high school in Massachusetts. In the 2010s, the school saw growth in both the number of students taking Advanced Placement courses and in qualifying scores on the exams. It ranks in the top 10 of Massachusetts high schools with 26.6 percent of students taking at least one AP exam during the 2015-16 school year. The school's athletic program offers 26 varsity sports with a mascot known as the Marauder, and 26 co-curricular clubs and activities. Each student receives a personal computer from the school. The history of Dedham, Massachusetts from 2000 to present includes several large commercial and residential developments, the Town's 375th anniversary, municipal building projects, and changes to the Charter. Development Major developments in Dedham include the Jewish Rashi School, a $30 million building on the 162-acre campus of Hebrew SeniorLife's NewBridge on the Charles in the fall of 2010. The 82,000-square-foot LEED-certified school opened in the fall of 2010 with 300 students in kindergarten through eighth grade and room to grow the population. The first of the 700 residents of NewBridge on the Charles moved in on June 1, 2010. Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System
The Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment system, commonly abbreviated as MCAS , is Massachusetts's statewide standards-based assessment program developed in 1993 in response to the Massachusetts Education Reform Act of the same year. State and federal law mandates that all students who are enrolled in the tested grades and who are educated with Massachusetts public funds participate in MCAS testing. If necessary, students are given multiple opportunities to take the test to maximize the chance that said student will pass the exam. The Tri-Valley League or TVL is a high school athletic league located in towns in Middlesex and Norfolk counties, Massachusetts. The league was founded in 1966 by principals and Alfred “Hap’’ Mazukina, who served as the league's commissioner for 23 years. In its infancy the TVL struggled but over the years has undergone changes and is now regarded more than 50 years later as one of the most respected high school sports leagues in Massachusetts. The Dedham Police Department is the municipal police department for the Town of Dedham, Massachusetts. Founded in 1876, it is currently led by Chief Michael D'Entremont and is housed in Dedham's Public Safety Building. The Bay State Conference (BSC) is an interscholastic high school athletic league located in Norfolk County, Massachusetts, Norfolk County and Middlesex County, Massachusetts, Middlesex County of Massachusetts. Anthony Paul "JuJu" Mucciaccio Jr. (January 10, 1938 – January 1, 2025) was an American parks and recreation director in Dedham, Massachusetts. He was described by Town Clerk Paul Munchbach as "a Dedham icon" and someone who "dedicated his whole life to the town." Early life and education Mucciaccio was born on January 10, 1938, to Anthony, a stone mason, and Rose Mucciaccio on East Street in Dedham, Massachusetts. He had four younger brothers: Robert, William, Thomas, and Gerald Mucciaccio. He got his nickname, JuJu, from his childhood attempts to pronounce the "choo choo" sounds of the nearby trains going to Dedham station.
