The Decauville railway of La Guerche-sur-l'Aubois was a horse-drawn narrow-gauge railway, which operated around 1910 at the ''Daumy, Boucheron & Cie'' lime and cement factory in La Guerche-sur-l'Aubois. History One of the founders of the company has originally been producing hydraulic lime, a building material that hardens both in the air and under water. His factory, ''Daumy Ainé et Cie,'' was initially, around 1869, located in Beffes near Jouet-sur-l'Aubois, Jouet, to the north. Route Old postcards and the stationery used by ''Daumy, Boucheron & Cie'' around 1910 show all the means of transport they used. The lime was taken by the gauge Decauville railway from the quarries below the church, to the limekilns, slaking ponds and grinding mills, and finally to the shipping points for the finished products on the railway and the Berry Canal. Decauville () was a manufacturing company which was founded by Paul Decauville (1846–1922), a French pioneer in industrial railways. Decauville's major innovation was the use of ready-made sections of light, narrow-gauge track fastened to steel sleepers; this track was portable and could be disassembled and transported very easily. The first Decauville railway used gauge; Decauville later refined his invention and switched to and gauge. The Canal de Berry () is a disused canal in France which links the Canal latéral à la Loire at Marseilles-lès-Aubigny with the Cher at Noyers rejoining the Loire near Tours. With a branch from Montluçon it provided of canal with locks wide from 1840 until its closure in 1955. There is now a long operational segment with five locks between Selles-sur-Cher and Noyers-sur-Cher.
