Decameron Nights
''Decameron Nights'' (also known as ''Tres Historias De Amor'') is a 1953 British-American anthology Technicolor film directed by Hugo Fregonese and starring Joan Fontaine and Louis Jourdan. It was written by George Oppenheimer based on three tales from ''The Decameron'' by Giovanni Boccaccio, specifically the ninth and tenth tales of the second day and the ninth tale of the third. Plot In the mid-fourteenth century, Boccaccio seeks his true love, the recently widowed Fiametta, and finds that she has fled Florence, plague-ridden and being sacked by an invading army, for a villa in the countryside with several female companions. When he shows up, Fiametta does not want to invite him to stay, but her friends, bored and lacking male companionship, override her. Hugh Morton (28 June 1903 – 11 July 1984) was an English actor, best known for his work on BBC Radio for which he made more than 3,000 broadcasts, beginning in the 1920s. Patrick Joseph Noel Purcell (23 December 1900 – 3 March 1985) was an Irish actor of stage, screen, and television. Gerhard Johannes Alexander Tichy Wondzinski (11 March 1920 – 11 April 1992), known as Gérard Tichy, was a German-Spanish actor who appeared in numerous films, including several international productions. Early life Tichy was born Gerhard Johannes Alexander Tichy Wondzinski in Weißenfels, Saxony-Anhalt, the son of a doctor. After a short period as an artist, he was conscripted into the Reich Labour Service during World War II, but was later transferred into the Wehrmacht as an infantry soldier. He served in the Polish and French campaigns, but was captured by Allied forces in 1945. He was held in a prisoner-of-war camp in Bordeaux for 18 months. Robert Gordon Whiting (16 March 1942 – 6 November 2018) was a judge of the Environment Court of New Zealand and on boards of inquiry that dealt with many important environmental issues. Early life Whiting, who was of Irish descent, was born in Oamaru in 1942 and attended St Kevins College in Oamaru. He studied economics and law at the University of Otago, graduating BA LLB in 1967.
