David Ruiz (footballer, Born 2004)
David Antonio Ruiz Ochoa (born 8 February 2004), known as David Ruiz, is a professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Major League Soccer club Inter Miami. Born in the United States, he represents the Honduras national team. Early life Born in Miami, Ruiz later moved to Honduras at age five, before moving back to the United States three years later. Ruiz played youth soccer with the Miami United Stars for seven years. In 2021, he joined the Inter Miami CF academy. Club career In 2021, Ruiz began playing with Fort Lauderdale CF (later renamed Inter Miami II) in USL League One, later in MLS Next Pro. Homegrown Player Rule (MLS)
The Homegrown Player Rule is a Major League Soccer program that allows MLS teams to sign local players from their own development academies directly to MLS first team rosters. Before the creation of the rule in 2008, every player entering Major League Soccer would have to be assigned through one of the existing MLS player allocation processes, such as the MLS SuperDraft. MLS roster rules allow a team to sign players to contracts similar to Generation adidas contracts, which do not count against the MLS salary budget and may earn a much higher salary than the league minimum. MLS has since removed this wording from the roster rules. The 2022 MLS Next Pro season is the inaugural season of MLS Next Pro, the reserve league of Major League Soccer. It is the first season since 2014 where MLS had a standalone reserve league, the previous season being the MLS Reserve League. Including both MLS Next Pro and the MLS Reserve League, it is the ninth season of a reserve league operated by MLS. The league is sanctioned as a third division league by U.S. Soccer. The 2021 USL League One season was the third season of USL League One. The regular season began on April 10 and ended on October 30, 2021. The playoffs was held from November 6 to 20, 2021.
