Sir David Anthony Cathcart Simmons, KA, BCH, SC, LLM (born April 28, 1940) is a distinguished Caribbean jurist and politician: a former Chief Justice of Barbados, he also served as Attorney General. Early life and education David Simmons was born in Saint Philip, Barbados, the oldest child of Sybil a nurse and Kenneth, a teacher. He has 3 brothers, Robin, Peter (deceased), Philip (deceased) and 1 sister Janette. His godparents were Sir Hugh Springer and Dr Hugh Gordon Cummins. He was educated at the Wesley Hall Boys' School, St Philip's Boys' School, and The Lodge School and then attended university in London, studying at the London School of Economics 1960–1965, graduating as Master of Laws (LL.M.) and being called to the bar at Lincoln's Inn. While in London, Simmons also reported as a journalist on the 1966 Barbados Independence Conference. David William Simmons, OAM (born 7 November 1947), a former Australian politician, was a member of the Australian House of Representatives from 1983 to 1996, representing the seat of Calare for the Australian Labor Party. Simmons held several junior Ministerial positions in the Hawke and Keating Governments. Early career Simmons was born in Broken Hill, New South Wales and arrived in Bathurst, New South Wales in 1965 and commenced study for teacher training at Bathurst Teacher's College. After graduation, Simmons taught at Tullibigeal Central, Bletchington and Broken Hill North before changing to secondary teaching and transferring to Bathurst High School where he became Head Teacher of Social Science. David Simmons (born 6 December 1984) is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer. He played for the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks and Penrith Panthers in the National Rugby League. David John Simmons (24 October 1948 – 3 July 2007) was an English footballer who played for a number of Football League teams in the 1970s. He is perhaps best known for scoring the decisive goal in Colchester United's shock win against Leeds in the 1971 FA Cup. Career A native of Ryde on the Isle of Wight, Simmons began his professional football career at Arsenal, but never played any first team competitive matches for the Gunners. Although a prolific goalscorer in the youth and reserve teams, he only played friendlies for the first team and spent a period of time out on loan at Bournemouth. In February 1969, he was transferred to Aston Villa, where he only played sporadically despite a good goal rate. In December 1970, he moved to Colchester. David Alan Simmons (August 3, 1943 – November 7, 1994) was a professional American football linebacker in the National Football League for the St. Louis Cardinals, New Orleans Saints, and Dallas Cowboys. He played college football at Georgia Tech. Early years Simmons attended Stephen F. Austin High School, where he played as a fullback. He accepted a football scholarship from Georgia Tech where he played at center and linebacker. Dave Simmons is a former linebacker in the National Football League and the United States Football League. He was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the sixth round of the 1979 NFL Draft and played that season with the team. The following season, he was a member of the Detroit Lions. After a season away from the NFL, he played with the Baltimore Colts during the 1982 NFL season and the Chicago Bears during the 1983 NFL season. In the fall of 1984, Simmons signed with the defending USFL Champion Baltimore Stars but was traded to the Houston Gamblers for a draft choice during training camp in February of 1985. David Gerard Simmons (born 6 October 1955) is a New Zealand lecturer in tourism policy. During his university years, he was a rowing cox, winning bronze medals at two world rowing championships. Biography Simmons was born in 1955 in Christchurch. He was the cox for the eight in the 1975 World Rowing Championships in Nottingham, Great Britain, and won a bronze medal. He represented New Zealand at the 1976 Summer Olympics. He is listed as New Zealand Olympian athlete number 375 by the New Zealand Olympic Committee. Simmons gained a Bachelor of Science and then a Master of Applied Science from the University of Canterbury. He wrote his PhD at the University of Waterloo in Canada. David Roy Simmons (6 September 1930 – 30 November 2015), also known as Rawiri Te Puru Terehou, was a New Zealand ethnologist, historian and author. Biography Born in 1930, Simmons studied at Victoria University College and the University of Auckland, graduating from the latter with a Master of Arts with honours. From 1962 to 1968 he was the keeper in anthropology at Otago Museum in Dunedin. He was appointed as the ethologist at the Auckland Institute and Museum in 1968, and became the assistant director of Auckland War Memorial Museum in 1978.
