''Dave's Picks Volume 53'' is a three-CD live album by the rock band the Grateful Dead. In contains the complete concert recorded on October 2, 1976, at Riverfront Coliseum in Cincinnati. It was released on January 31, 2025, in a limited edition of 25,000 copies. The album also includes five songs recorded on May 4, 1977, at the Palladium in New York City. The other songs from the Palladium concert can be found as bonus tracks on '' Dave's Picks Volume 50'' and on the ''Dave's Picks 2024 Bonus Disc'' that was included with some copies of ''Volume 50''. ''Dave's Picks Volume 53'' debuted at number 2 in the ''Billboard'' Top Album Sales chart, and at number 3 in the Top Rock Albums chart. The Grateful Dead was an American rock music, rock band formed in Palo Alto, California, in 1965. Martin David Robinson (September 26, 1925 – December 8, 1982), known professionally as Marty Robbins, was an American country and western singer and songwriter. George Ivy Hunter (August 28, 1940 – October 6, 2022), known as Ivy Jo Hunter, was an American R&B songwriter, record producer and singer, most associated with his work for Motown in the 1960s. Life and career Raised in Detroit, Michigan, Hunter was trained in orchestral music — primarily trumpet and keyboards. After a stint in the United States Army, Hunter began performing as a singer in the proto-soul venues around Detroit, where he became friends with songwriter Hank Cosby. Cosby introduced him to Motown's first A&R man, William "Mickey" Stevenson. Hunter played keyboards on Motown sessions before Stevenson began working with him as a songwriter. Marvin Pentz Gaye Jr. (; April 2, 1939 – April 1, 1984) was an American Rhythm and blues, R&B and soul singer, songwriter, musician, and record producer. William Stevenson (songwriter)
William "Mickey" Stevenson (born January 4, 1937) is an American former songwriter and record producer for the Motown group of labels from the early days of Berry Gordy's company until 1967. Life and career He was born William Stevenson and, after spending his formative years recording doowop and gospel music, joined Tamla/Motown in 1959, the year it was founded. He was head of the A&R department there during the company's "glory" years of the mid-1960s when artists such as the Supremes, Marvin Gaye, the Temptations, Four Tops, Stevie Wonder and Martha and the Vandellas came to the fore. "Dancing in the Street" is a song written by Marvin Gaye, William Stevenson, and Ivy Jo Hunter. John Collins Dawson IV (June 16, 1945 – July 21, 2009), nicknamed "Marmaduke", was an American musician, singer, and songwriter. He was best known as the leader and co-founder of the country rock band the New Riders of the Purple Sage. He sang lead vocals on most of the band's songs. Musical career Dawson was born in Chicago. It is the second track of the Dead's 1970 album '' American Beauty''.
