Davao City's At-large Congressional District
Davao City's at-large congressional district may refer to two occasions when a city-wide at-large district was used for elections to List of legislatures of the Philippines, Philippine national legislatures from Davao City. The district was first formed ahead of the 1943 Philippine legislative election following the ratification of the Second Philippine Republic constitution which called for a unicameral legislature composed of delegates from all provinces and chartered cities in the country. Davao, a chartered city since 1936, elected Celestino Chávez to the National Assembly (Second Philippine Republic), National Assembly, who was joined by then-mayor Alfonso Oboza as an appointed second delegate. At large (''before a noun'': at-large) is a description for members of a governing body who are elected or appointed to represent a whole membership or population (notably a city, county, state, province, nation, club or association), rather than a subset.
