Daraa Offensive (March–April 2016)
The Daraa offensive (March–April 2016) was a military operation of two groups allegedly affiliated with the Islamic State, the Yarmouk Martyrs Brigade and the Islamic Muthanna Movement, against Syrian opposition forces in the Daraa Governorate. Background The Muthanna Islamic Movement was accused of kidnappings of Daraa officials and FSA commanders, which the Movement denied. Several of the prisoners were freed by the Yarmouk Army later. Muthanna was also alleged to have cooperated with the Islamic State. In midst of the Second Battle of Al-Shaykh Maskin on 23 January 2016, against the Syrian Armed Forces, conflict erupted between the Muthanna Movement and the Yarmouk Army after the Movement blocked the road leading to the town. The Daraa Governorate campaign was a military campaign in the Syrian Civil War for the control of the southern Syrian Daraa Governorate (province) between the Syrian Armed Forces and the Syrian opposition, which ended with the capture of the province by the Southern Operations Room. The Army of the Revolution (; ''Jaysh al-Thawrā'') was a Syrian rebel alliance affiliated with the Southern Front of the Free Syrian Army. Jaysh Al-Islam
Jaysh al-Islam (, meaning ''Army of Islam''), formerly known as Liwa al-Islam (, Brigade of Islam), is a coalition of Islamist rebel units involved in the Syrian Civil War. The group was part of the Free Syrian Army's Supreme Military Council until December 2013, but in November 2013 started the Syrian Islamic Front and the next month broke with the SMC and the Free Syrian Army. Ahrar Ash-Sham
Harakat Ahrar al-Sham al-Islamiyya (), commonly referred to as Ahrar al-Sham, was a coalition of multiple Sunni Islamist units that coalesced into a single brigade and later a division in order to fight against the Syrian Government led by Bashar al-Assad during the Syrian Civil War. First Army (Syrian Rebel Group)
The First Army was a Syrian rebel group affiliated with the Free Syrian Army. It was created on 1 January 2015 in an effort to unify rebel ranks in southern Syria. Three prominent rebel units merged under this command structure. It operated as part of the Southern Front of the Free Syrian Army. Hamza Division (Daraa)
The Hamza Division (; ''Firqat al-Hamza'') was a Syrian rebel group affiliated with the Free Syrian Army. It was based in Inkhil, Daraa Governorate. It was formed on 8 April 2013 by Colonel Saber Safar as the "Hamza Brigade". It was composed of six subunits. The group received U.S.-made BGM-71 TOW anti-tank missiles.
