Danny! Discography
Danny!, also known as D. Swain, is an American rapper, producer and composer. In a five-year period, he has self-released twelve albums, which include five full-length albums, an EP, three instrumental albums and even a greatest hits compilation. Though signed to Definitive Jux in early 2007, the self-proclaimed "prolific producer/ MC" never released an album with the label. Instead, selected tracks from Danny!'s discography—all previously released on his vanity Badenov Records/1911 Music imprint—have been made available as a free download on Def Jux's revamped website, which boasts an extensive digital download section. A single titled "Just Friends" came out in March 2009 and is Danny!'s first, and to date only, official Def Jux release. Daniel Keith Swain (born August 18, 1983), known mononymously as Danny!, is an American rapper, record producer, singer, and composer. Swain rose to prominence after his debut performance on ''Late Night with Jimmy Fallon'', where he premiered his song "Evil". After joining Okayplayer Records, Danny! released his album ''Payback (album), Payback'', cited by AllMusic as one of the best hip-hop releases of the year. In 2013, Ebony (magazine), ''Ebony'' magazine listed Swain among other rising artists in its "Leaders of the New School" piece, calling Swain one of a handful of "innovators". The ''Billboard'' Hot 100 is the music industry standard record chart in the United States for songs, published weekly by ''Billboard'' magazine. Chart rankings are based on sales (physical and digital), radio play, and online streaming in the United States. The weekly tracking period for sales was initially Monday to Sunday when Nielsen started tracking sales in 1991, but was changed to Friday to Thursday in July 2015. This tracking period also applies to compiling online streaming data. ''Danny Is Dead'', the first EP and fourth studio album from American rapper/producer Danny!, is a half-hour-long EP that was released July 17, 2007 (see 2007 in music) on Danny!'s 1911 Music/Badenov Records vanity label. The eight-song record is the extended play follow-up to his critically acclaimed 2006 album ''Charm'' and composed primarily of reducia from ''Charms standout tracks (namely, "Now You're Gone", "Cafe Surreal" and "Fly"). Like all of the titles in Danny!'s catalogue, production on ''Danny Is Dead'' was helmed solely by Danny! himself. There are also no guest appearances or features on the album, making ''Danny Is Dead'' the first record since Danny!'s debut, ''The College Kicked-Out'', to be a completely solo effort.
