Daniel O'Shaughnessy
Daniel Michael O'Shaughnessy (born 14 September 1994) is a Finnish professional Association football, footballer who plays for Veikkausliiga club HJK Helsinki, HJK and the Finland national football team, Finland national team as a defender (association football), defender. O'Shaughnessy began his career in the youth systems at FC Honka, Honka, HJK and FC Metz, Metz and also played in England for Braintree Town F.C., Braintree Town and Cheltenham Town F.C., Cheltenham Town. After rising to prominence and winning three Veikkausliiga championships during his second spell with HJK, he transferred to German club Karlsruher SC in 2022. Following a -year spell interrupted by career-threatening hip injuries, O'Shaughnessy returned to HJK in 2024. Patrick O'Shaughnessy (born 29 January 1993) is a Finnish footballer who plays as a defender for Finnish club HPS. Early life O'Shaughnessy was born in Riihimäki on 29 January 1993, the son of a Finnish mother and Irish father (Robert, a painter from Galway). He holds both Finnish and Irish citizenship. His younger brother Daniel is also a footballer who plays for HJK and the Finland national team. 2020 Veikkausliiga
The 2020 Veikkausliiga was the 90th season of top-tier football in Finland with KuPS being the defending champions. HJK won the league. New league format Veikkausliiga adopted a new league format for the 2019 season. Each team played against each other twice in the regular season. After the regular season the top six teams advanced to the Championship Series which determines the champion and European tournament qualification places. The bottom six teams advanced to the Challenger Series. The best team from the Challenger Series plays in a tournament against the Championship Series' 4th, 5th, and 6th place teams. The winner from that plays in a final series against the 3rd best team from the Championship Series. 2018 Veikkausliiga
The 2018 Veikkausliiga was the 88th season of top-tier football in Finland. HJK were the defending champions. Fixtures for the 2018 season were announced on 17 January 2017. The season started on 7 April 2018 and ended on 27 October 2018. Teams JJK were relegated to Ykkönen after finishing at the bottom of the 2017 season. Their place was taken by Ykkönen champions TPS. Veikkausliiga () is a professional association football league in Finland and the highest level of the Finnish football league system. The league comprises the top 12 clubs of the country. Its main sponsor is the Finnish national betting agency Veikkaus, hence the league's name. Veikkausliiga was founded in 1990; before that the top division was called ''Mestaruussarja'' (championship series) since 1930 which was an amateur or semi-professional league. 2017–18 Finnish Cup
The 2017–18 Finnish Cup ''(Suomen Cup)'' was the 64th season of the Finnish Cup. It was the second edition of the tournament to be played on a fall-spring schedule, running from July to September of the following year. The introduction of this new competition format meant that the Liiga Cup was discontinued. The winner of the Men's Finnish Cup was awarded a cash prize of EUR 50,000 with the runners up receiving EUR 10,000. The winner also qualified for the 2019–20 UEFA Europa League.
