Daniel Galván Scandal
The Daniel Galván scandal (also known as Danielgate, in ) was a political scandal in which Mohammed VI, the King of Morocco, issued a pardon for a Spanish convicted serial child rapist named Daniel Galván. The Spanish citizen was serving a thirty-year prison sentence. He was arrested in Morocco in late 2011, for having raped at least eleven Moroccan children in Kenitra, a city he had been living in since 2004. The pardon came some 18 months after his incarceration as part of a diplomatic gesture from Mohammed VI to Spain, on the occasion of the 14th anniversary of his enthronement. The pardon sparked unprecedented popular outrage in Morocco, where several protests were held denouncing the monarch's decision. Mohammed VI Of Morocco
Mohammed VI (; born 21 August 1963) is King of Morocco. A member of the Alawi dynasty, he acceded to the throne on 23 July 1999, upon the death of his father, King Hassan II. Upon ascending to the throne, Mohammed initially introduced several reforms and changed the family code to grant more rights to women in Morocco. Leaked diplomatic cables from WikiLeaks in 2010 led to allegations of corruption in the court of Mohammed, implicating him and his closest advisors. Taoufik Bouachrine (; born 1969, Meknes) is a Moroccan journalist and editor. In 2005 he was editor-in-chief of ''al-Jarida al-Oukhra'' which was founded by Ali Anouzla and was banned in 2006. In September 2006, he co-founded the popular daily '' al-Massae'' with Rachid Ninni. Bouachrine holds a master's degree in political science from the Mohammed V University of Rabat, which he obtained in 1997. In 2019, he was sentenced to 15 years of imprisonment for "human trafficking, and abusing authority for sexual exploitation using the threat of defamation". Fouad Ali El Himma
Fouad Ali El Himma (; born 6 December 1962, in Ben Guerir, Morocco) is a Moroccan politician and senior advisor for Mohammed VI of whom he is said to be a very close friend. Since he became Secretary of State in the Ministry of the Interior in November 1999, he has played a prominent role in the Moroccan State. In 2008, he founded the Authenticity and Modernity Party. Education El Himma was a classmate of Mohammed VI at the Collège Royale and was the director of his cabinet when he was crown prince. The Authenticity and Modernity Party (; ; , PAM) is a political party in Morocco. Mounir Majidi (full name Mohamed Mounir El Majidi, ; born 10 January 1965) is a Moroccan businessman. He has been the personal secretary of King Mohammed VI since 2000 and president of the royal holding, SIGER, since 2002.
