Damion Crawford (Jamaican Politician)
Damion O. Crawford (born c. 1980) is a Jamaican politician. He represented Saint Andrew East in the parliament. Background and education Crawford was born in Haddo, Westmoreland Parish. Crawford attended Kingston College and the University of the West Indies, where he earned bachelor's and master's degrees in tourism management. While completing his master's degree, Crawford served as president of the university's Guild of Students. Political career Crawford was elected a member of parliament representing Saint Andrew East Rural in December 2011. He concurrently served as Jamaican minister of state for tourism and entertainment. Crawford announced in 2015 that he would not run for reelection to the House of Representatives, but later said that his retirement was a "trick." Ann-Marie Theresa Vaz (née Lyew; born 13 March 1966) is a Jamaican politician who is the Member of Parliament for the Portland Eastern constituency. Life She was born Ann-Marie Theresa Lyew on 13 March 1966 and raised in the Duff House district, bordering Manchester Parish and Saint Elizabeth Parish. Lyew lived with her grandmother, mother, and half-sister Trisha Thompson, among other relatives. Lyew attended the Bull Savannah Basic School, then New Forest Primary and Junior High, followed by the Hampton School. She also studied at Alpha Academy and Excelsior Community College before enrolling at the University of the West Indies. Westmoreland Parish
Westmoreland is the westernmost parish in Jamaica, located on the south side of the island. It is situated south of Hanover, southwest of Saint James, and northwest of Saint Elizabeth, in the county of Cornwall. The chief town and capital is Savanna-la-Mar. Negril, a famous tourist destination, is also situated in the parish. History The earliest inhabitants of Westmoreland were the Arawak and Ciboney Indians. The Ciboney were first to arrive, from the coast of South America, around 500 BC. Known as "cave dwellers", they lived along the cliffs of Negril. The labyrinth of caves and passageways beneath what is now the Xtabi Hotel in Negril are one of the first known settlements of Ciboney Indians in Jamaica. The Honourable Phillip Paulwell (born 14 January 1962) is a Jamaican politician. Paulwell is the current Member of Parliament for the constituency of Kingston East and Port Royal and former Minister of Science, Technology, Energy and Mining STEM in the People's National Party administration, which has formed the Government of Jamaica following the party's electoral victory in the December 2011 General Elections.
