Daire O'Brien
Daire O'Brien is an Irish broadcaster and journalist. He is best known for being the presenter and anchorman of RTÉ Sport's coverage of the Pro14 rugby union competition, and has been with RTÉ since 2010. Before this he presented for Setanta Sports, where he was one of their most recognisable faces. Here he was successful until Setanta Sports went bankrupt in 2010, after which he moved to RTE Sport and began broadcasting for them. He has also contributed to Newstalk. He has written for the ''Irish Independent'', ''The Sunday Times'', ''The Sunday Business Post'' and the ''Sunday Tribune'' and reported for ''Prime Time'' in the 1990s. He narrated the RTÉ series ''Tidiest of Towns'' in 2007. RTÉ Sport is a department of Irish public broadcaster RTÉ. The department provides sporting coverage through a number of platforms including RTÉ Radio, RTÉ Television, RTÉ.ie, RTÉ Player, RTÉ Player Sport and RTÉ.ie, RTÉ Mobile. Sunday World
The ''Sunday World'' is an Irish newspaper published by Independent News & Media. It is the second largest selling "popular" newspaper in the Republic of Ireland, and is also sold in Northern Ireland where a modified edition with more stories relevant to that region is produced. It was first published on 25 March 1973. Until 25 December 1988 all editions were printed in Dublin but since 1 January 1989 a Northern Ireland edition has been published and an English edition has been printed in London since March 1992. Origins The ''Sunday World'' was Ireland's first tabloid newspaper. Hugh McLaughlin and Gerry McGuinness launched it on 25 March 1973. Breifne O'Brien is an Irish convicted swindler and former socialite businessman. A major figure in Ireland's Celtic Tiger economy, he has been called "Ireland's Bernie Madoff". His residences included a lavish family home in Glenageary, an apartment on Dalkey’s Vico Road and a golfing villa in Barbados. He drove an Aston Martin DB7 and had close to 100 bank accounts. After admitting in 2008 to his investors—many of whom were close friends—that he had stolen millions of Euros of their money to fund a lavish lifestyle and could not pay it back, he was investigated by the Garda Síochána Fraud Squad. It was reported that he referred to his investors as "suckers". His mother put up his bail to get him out of jail and he was put on trial for fraud.
