Da'an River
The Da'an River () is a river in northwestern Taiwan. It is the seventh-longest river on the island, it flows through Miaoli County and Taichung City for . It reaches the Taiwan Strait between the Dajia District and Da'an District, Taichung. The Da'an River was affected by the 1999 Jiji earthquake The Chi-Chi earthquake (later also known as the Jiji earthquake, 921 Earthquake, or the great earthquake of September 21), was a 7.3 Richter magnitude scale, ML or 7.7 Moment magnitude scale, Mw earthquake which occurred in Jiji, Nanto ..., where a gorge was formed (called Da'an River Grand Canyon ). In some of the fastest erosion geologists have ever seen, the gorge is being eaten away from its upstream end at a rate of 17 meters per year. They expect the gorge to be erased after 50 years. Xueshan Range
The Xueshan Range is a mountain range in northern Taiwan. It is bordered by the Chungyang Range to the southeast. Dabajian Mountain
Mount Dabajian ( calque of "towering ear", Saisiyat: ''Kapatalayan'') is located in the northern section of the Shei-Pa National Park in Hsinchu County, Taiwan. It is surrounded by numerous other peaks, the most predominant including Mount Nanhu, Mount Yize, Central Range Point, Mt. Pintian, and Mt. Mutule. It is also near the Madala River. Miaoli County
Miaoli is a county (Taiwan), county in western Taiwan. Miaoli is bordered by Hsinchu County and Hsinchu City to the north, Taichung to the south, and the Taiwan Strait to the west. Taichung City
Taichung (, Wade–Giles: '), officially Taichung City, is a special municipality in central Taiwan. Dajia District
Dajia District () is a coastal suburban District (Taiwan), district in Taichung, Taiwan. It is located on the northwestern corner of Taichung. The climate of the region is Sub-tropical, and the average temperature is roughly 24 degrees Celsius. In March 2012, it was named one of the ''Top 10 Small Tourist Towns'' by the Tourism Bureau of Taiwan. History The local Taokas tribe people used to live in the area before the Han people arrived. 1999 Jiji Earthquake
The Chi-Chi earthquake (later also known as the Jiji earthquake, 921 Earthquake, or the great earthquake of September 21), was a 7.3 Richter magnitude scale, ML or 7.7 Moment magnitude scale, Mw earthquake which occurred in Jiji, Nantou, Jiji (Chi-Chi), Nantou County, Taiwan on 21 September 1999 at 01:47:12 Time in Taiwan, local time. 2,415 people were killed, 11,305 injured, and billion worth of damage was done. It is the second-deadliest earthquake in Taiwan's recorded history, after the 1935 Shinchiku-Taichū earthquake.
