DSEE
DSEE (Digital Sound Enhancement Engine) is a sound quality improvement technology for lossy compressed music files developed by Sony. Variants DSEE Introduced in 2006, DSEE is included in Sony's digital Walkman products and freeware SonicStage CP (version 4.2 or higher), x-app, and Music Center for PC. In operation, it analyzes irreversibly compressed music files such as MP3, ATRAC3, Advanced Audio Coding, AAC, and Windows Media Audio, WMA, and performs predictive calculations to compensate for high-frequency sounds lost due to compression, thereby improving sound quality. If the playing music on a Walkman has a high sound quality (bit rate), or if the sound quality is too low, the system determines that it cannot be enhanced and DSEE is temporarily disabled to save battery. Walkman A Series
The Walkman A Series is a flagship line of mid-range digital audio players (DAP) by Sony as part of its Walkman range. The A Series has been marketed since 2005, initially as the top spec Walkman players and since 2014 as a mid-range following the introduction of the Walkman ZX Series, ZX Series. Walkman F Series
The Walkman F series is a discontinued portable media player manufactured as a part of Sony's Walkman line of music players, through two generations. They are high-res compatible players and run the Android operating system. History and features The first generation, series NW-F800, was introduced in July 2012 as the replacement of the similar looking Walkman Z series and by extension effectively of the A series. Music Center For PC
Music Center for PC is a music player and transfer software for Microsoft Windows, developed by Sony and first released in 2017. Overview The software was created to replace Media Go and x-APPLICATION (Japanese: x-アプリ). Unlike those, Music Center for PC only focuses on audio and as a result it has had several features removed, such as CD burning, or non-audio media functionalities like photo or video playback and transfer. It is also not compatible for transfer with phones or consoles, but only with audio devices like Walkman, home stereos and theater systems, active speakers, and others. LDAC (Lossless Digital Audio Codec) is a proprietary software, proprietary audio codec, audio coding technology developed by Sony, which allows streaming Lossy compression, lossy audio over Bluetooth connections at up to 990 kbps at 32 bits/96 kHz. Despite this, Sony markets LDAC as "lossless" and "high-resolution," declaring the quality to be better than true lossless, high-resolution audio. High-resolution Audio
High-resolution audio is a term for music files with bit depth greater than 16-bit and sampling frequency higher than 44.1 kHz or 48 kHz used in CD and DVD formats. The Audio Engineering Society (AES), Consumer Technology Association (CTA) and Japan Audio Society (JAS) set 24-bit/96 kHz as the minimum requirement to fulfill the standard. The Recording Academy Producers & Engineers Wing also cites 24-bit/96 kHz as the preferred resolution for tracking, mixing and mastering audio.
