D'Vana Tendi
D'Vana Tendi, commonly known simply as Tendi, is a fictional character from the American science fiction television series ''Star Trek: Lower Decks''. She is the first Orion (Star Trek), Orion main character in a ''Star Trek'' show. Among Orions, she is known as the Mistress of the Winter Constellations. Tendi is voiced by Noël Wells. She also appeared in the animated portions of the 2023 ''Star Trek: Strange New Worlds'' crossover episode "Those Old Scientists". Characterization ''Lower Decks'' series creator Mike McMahan described Tendi as "hilarious and just a source of joy". McMahan noted that the character is "a huge Starfleet fan" and that "being on the ship, every day just blows her mind". Tendi often has to deal with stereotypes that cast Orions as thieves, slavers, and pirates (including from her friend Beckett Mariner in the episodes "Crisis Point" and "We'll Always Have Tom Paris"). ''Star Trek: Lower Decks'' is an American adult animated science fiction television series created by Mike McMahan for the streaming service CBS All Access (later rebranded as Paramount+). It is the ninth ''Star Trek'' series and debuted in 2020 as part of executive producer Alex Kurtzman's expanded ''Star Trek'' Universe. The franchise's first animated series since '' Star Trek: The Animated Series'' concluded in 1974, and also its first comedy, ''Lower Decks'' follows the low-ranking support crew of the starship ''Cerritos'' in the 24th century. "Those Old Scientists" is the seventh episode of the second season of the American television series '' Star Trek: Strange New Worlds''. The series follows Captain Christopher Pike and the crew of the starship ''Enterprise'' in the 23rd century as they explore new worlds and carry out missions during the decade before '' Star Trek: The Original Series'' (1966–1969). The episode is a crossover with the animated comedy series '' Star Trek: Lower Decks'' (2020–2024) in which Ensigns Beckett Mariner and Brad Boimler from that series are sent back in time and interact with the crew of Pike's ''Enterprise'', who try to send them back to their own time. Extravehicular activity (EVA) is any activity done by an astronaut in outer space outside a spacecraft. In the absence of a breathable atmosphere of Earth, Earthlike atmosphere, the astronaut is completely reliant on a space suit for environmental support. EVA includes spacewalks and Moon, lunar or planetary surface exploration (commonly known from 1969 to 1972 as moonwalks).
