The Czechoslovakia Olympic football team was the national under-23 football team of Czechoslovakia from 1922 to 1993, before the country split into the Czech Republic and Slovakia (''For information about the national teams of the two countries, see the articles Czech Republic national under-23 football team and Slovakia national under-23 football team.'') Olympic Record Since 1992 the Olympic roster may consist out of under-23 year old players, plus three over the age players. The Football Association of the Czech Republic ( cs, Fotbalová asociace České republiky; FAČR) or colloquially the ''Czech Football Association'' is the governing body of association football in the Czech Republic based in Prague. It organizes the lower-level league competitions in the country (the professional Czech First League and Czech Second League are organized independently) and the Czech Cup. History First predecessor were established as Bohemian Football Union on 19 October 1901 in Austro-Hungarian constituency Kingdom of Bohemia. From 1922 to 1993, during the existence of Czechoslovakia, the association was known as the Czechoslovak Football Association ( cs, Československá asociace fotbalová; ČSAF) and controlled the Czechoslovakia national football team. After the partition of Czechoslovakia the association took the name Bohemian-Moravian Football Federation (''Českomoravský fotbalový svaz''; ČMFS) until June 2011. Football At The 1948 Summer Olympics
The football tournament of the 1948 Summer Olympics was won by Sweden. This remains Sweden's only international title at a senior male football level and was the first international appearance of the trio that would later be known as Gre-No-Li dominating the Italian league at A.C. Milan in the 1950s. It was the first international football tournament ever to be broadcast on television, with the semi-finals, final and bronze medal play-off all being broadcast live in full on the BBC Television Service. Venues Squads Final tournament The tournament began on 26 July 1948 with a preliminary round of two matches: Luxembourg defeating Afghanistan 6–0 and the Netherlands beating Ireland 3–1, with Faas Wilkes scoring two goals for the Dutch.
