Craigieburn is a suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, north of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Hume local government area. Craigieburn recorded a population of 66,146 at the 2021 census. Craigieburn is a satellite suburb located on the urban-rural fringe of Melbourne, ranging from the lower half of Bridgewater Road to Mount Ridley. A large majority of the suburb is more than 200 metres above sea level, with Mount Ridley being the northernmost hill in northwestern metropolitan Melbourne wherin clear views of Melbourne's central business district 29.7 km away exist. Craigieburn, New Zealand
Craigieburn is the name of a settlement and several geographic features in northwest Canterbury, in New Zealand's South Island. The Craigieburn Range of mountains is located on the south banks of the Waimakariri River, south of Arthur's Pass. The Craigieburn Valley Ski Area is located on its slopes, as is the Craigieburn Forest Park. The ski slopes are within an hour and a half from Christchurch New Zealand. The small Lake Hawdon lies immediately to the west of Craigieburn. Fauna During the summer months five species of grasshoppers can be found along the Craigieburn Range. They include ''Sigaus villosus'' which can be found along the ridgelines, ''Brachaspis nivalis'' which lives on the rocky scree, ''Sigaus australis'', ''Paprides nitidus'' which both live in the alpine tussocklands and ''Phaulacridium marginale'' which can be found in the tussocklands below 1100 m. Craigieburn is a small town located on the South Coast of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa and 53 km south-west of Durban. History Originally a farm owned by a Mr. John Mackenzie, Craigieburn was site of the first sugar cane plantation south of Isipingo. Economy Craigieburn is characterised by limited retail amenities with a few hardware and wholesale outlets in the town centre and the sole and main shopping centre near the town centre anchored by Superspar.
