Counties Manukau Rugby League Team
The Counties Manukau rugby league team represents the Counties Manukau zone in the Albert Baskerville Trophy. Previously, teams representing Southern Auckland and the Franklin district of New Zealand have competed in the Lion Red Cup and Bartercard Cup. They are nicknamed the Stingrays. 1994–1996: Heroes The Counties Manukau Heroes competed in the Lion Red Cup from 1994 to 1996. Stan Martin coached them in 1994 and 1995 before accepting a contract with the Whitehaven. He was replaced by Cameron Bell for the 1996 season. Albert Baskerville Trophy
The NZRL Men's National Competition (previously called the National Zonal Competition) is the top-level rugby league competition run by the New Zealand Rugby League. In 2010 the competition replaced the Bartercard Premiership following a Sport and Recreation New Zealand, Sparc funded review and restructure of the New Zealand Rugby League. Since 2019, the competition has consisted of a four-team national premiership and an eight-team national championship (split into North and South Island Conferences) with a promotion and relegation between the two divisions. Trophies and awards Senior teams compete for the Albert Baskerville Trophy, which is named after Albert Baskerville, the organiser of the 1907-1908 All Golds tour. Solomon Kiri
Solomon Kiri (born 26 October 1972) is a New Zealand former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1990s and 2000s for the Adelaide Rams and the Western Reds. New Zealand Kiri played for the Counties Manukau Heroes in the 1994 Lion Red Cup before joining the Auckland Warriors and playing for the Warriors Colts in the 1995 Lion Red Cup grand final. Kiri also represented the New Zealand Māori rugby league team Australia In 1996 Kiri played for the Western Reds, playing two first grade games for the club. Willie Wolfgramm
Willie Wolfgramm is a former professional rugby league and rugby union player who represented Tonga at two Rugby League World Cups and the 1993 Rugby World Cup Sevens. Background He is the cousin of fellow Tongan international Greg Wolfgramm. Playing career Wolfgramm played for Tonga in the 1992 Pacific Cup. He then spent some time at Manly before joining the Counties Manukau Heroes in the new Lion Red Cup. Jerry Seuseu
Jerry Seuseu (born 19 April 1974) is a New Zealand former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1990s and 2000s, as a . He represented New Zealand and Samoa at international level. After retirement he became Wellbeing and Education manager at the New Zealand Warriors, and the manager for the Junior Warriors. He is the current Junior Kiwis Manager as well as the Senior Wellbeing Manager for the New Zealand Warriors Playing career A Mangere East Hawks junior, Seuseu represented the Counties Manukau Heroes in the Lion Red Cup in 1995 and 1996, where he was Lion Red Cup player of the year in 1996 before joining the Auckland Warriors where he was named Reserve Grader of the Year in 1997. Mark Faumuina
Mark Faumuina (born 2 October 1971) is a former Western Samoa international rugby league footballer. Playing career An Otahuhu Leopards junior, Faumuina represented Auckland, playing for the Under 17's in 1987 and the under 18's in 1991. In 1993 Faumuina played for the Probables side in the New Zealand national rugby league team trial match. He did not however make the national side. In 1994 he played for the Auckland City Vulcans in the new Lion Red Cup. Matthew Sturm (born 13 December 1972) is a former professional rugby league footballer who played in New Zealand and in the Super League. Since 2007 he has been part of the Mount Albert Lions, as a player till 2012 and now part of the coaching staff.
