Concordia University of Edmonton, is a publicly funded independent academic institution in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada; accredited under the Alberta ''Post-secondary Learning Act''. Concordia offers arts, science, and management undergraduate degree programs, as well as graduate degree programs in education, information technology, information security, and psychology. Concordia Lutheran Seminary (CLS) is a Lutheran seminary situated on the north bank of the North Saskatchewan River in Edmonton, the provincial capital of Alberta, Canada. The seminary is located near the campus of Concordia University of Edmonton, and is part of the Lutheran Church–Canada (LCC). History In 1981, the convention of the Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod (LCMS) authorized its Canadian districts that ultimately became the Lutheran Church–Canada to determine what seminaries would be needed when the LCC became a separate denomination. The LCC decided that in addition to Concordia Lutheran Theological Seminary in St. Catharines, Ontario that had been founded already in 1976 by the LCMS, a seminary was also needed in the western part of the country. Sam Lam
Sam Lam (born December 30, 1988) is a Canadian professional soccer player. Career University and college Lam played college soccer at Concordia University College of Alberta as well as with the University of Alberta Golden Bears. He was nominated as an All-Canadian for both schools. Lam dominated the Canada West conference in his final year at Alberta, winning multiple player of the week honours in Canada West and the CIS. He also finished the 2010-11 season as the Canada West points leader. Professional Lam participated with Canada's national team training program in 2004 and 2006. After trials as a youth in Europe with some top clubs in England and the Netherlands in 2006, Lam came back to Canada to attend the University of Alberta in the CIS league where he was the youngest starter for the team at 17 years old. Sarah Hoffman
Sarah Marjorie Hoffman (born May 23, 1980) is a Canadian politician who served as the 10th deputy premier of Alberta and minister of Health in the cabinet of Rachel Notley. Hoffman was previously a member of the Edmonton Public School Board, where she served from 2010 to 2015 and from 2012 onward as chair. Prior to her service on the school board, she was the research director of the Alberta Legislature New Democrat caucus. Lynne Bowen (born August 22, 1940 in Indian Head, Saskatchewan) is a Canadian non-fiction writer, historian, professor, and journalist, best known for her popular historical books about Vancouver Island and British Columbia.
