Communauté d'agglomération Privas Centre Ardèche is the ''communauté d'agglomération'', an intercommunal structure, centred on the town of Privas. Privas
Privas (; oc, Privàs , also ) is a city located in France, in the department of Ardèche. With its 8,465 inhabitants (2019), it is the least populated prefecture (capital of a department). It was the location of the 1629 Siege of Privas. Today, Privas is known for the purée made from the local chestnuts, and for its sweetened marron glacé. History The earliest traces of the commune are attested in the hamlet of Lac where recent archaeological excavations have revealed a Roman villa dating to the beginning of the Empire, as well as a medieval burying-ground. Moulds for counterfeiting coinage found in the 19th century on the slopes of Mont-Toulon had not been interpretable as signifying a local centre of population. Privas possibly comes from the old Gallic word ''briva'' meaning thoroughfare, or more specifically a wooden causeway over a ravine or water. Les Ollières-sur-Eyrieux
Les Ollières-sur-Eyrieux (, literally ''Les Ollières on Eyrieux''; oc, Las Olièras) is a commune in the Ardèche department in southern France. The nearest towns are Privas and Saint-Sauveur-de-Montagut. History The first records of a settlement can be dated back to the 12th century. Situated on the banks of the river Eyrieux (a tributary to the Rhône), Les Ollières (as it is often shortened to by the local people) became a central location for the treatment and processing of silk in the early 18th century. The silk (and later different textiles) industry was to feature heavily in the surrounding area. 21st century The village has now become a tourist location, attracting many Dutch, German, Swiss and English tourists to its many camp sites during the summer months. Marcols-les-Eaux
Marcols-les-Eaux (; oc, Marcols) is a commune in the Ardèche department of southern France. History Known as Marcovolos during the 11th century and then Marcouls during the 12th century, the village became Saint-Julien-d'Ursival (first mentioned in 1573), Saint Julian the Hospitaller being the patron of the town. In 1790, the village is renamed Marcols by the revolutionaries willing to remove any references to the Catholic Church. In 1912, the town becomes Marcols-les-Eaux as many mineral water sources are found throughout the village. A source was exploited for bottled mineral water until the late 1950s. In 1912, 36% of the commune's territory are detached to form the new town of Albon-d'Ardèche. On 4 November 1943, an airplane of the British Royal Air Force, dropping guns and munitions to the local Resistance during the night, crashes against the Bourboulas pike, in Marcols-les-Eaux. 7 of the 8 crew members died.
