Commanders For Israel's Security
"Commanders for Israel's Security" (CIS, he, מפקדים למען ביטחון ישראל) is an Israeli movement of ex-senior security officials (IDF, Mossad, Shin Bet and Israel Police), that was founded in October 2014, and aims to promote a regional political-security initiative to resolve the Israeli–Palestinian conflict, and to normalize relations with moderate Arab states. The movement is non-partisan but promotes a political goal. The organization was established by a private and spontaneous initiative, in which a number of senior reserve officers who called on the Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, to adopt the Arab Peace Initiative as a basis for political negotiations and security, and to advance the peace process. An extra-parliamentary opposition is a political movement opposed to a ruling government or political party that chooses not to engage in elections. Ami Ayalon
Ami Ayalon ( he, עמיחי "עמי" איילון, born 27 June 1945) is an Israeli politician and a former member of the Knesset for the Labor Party. He was previously head of the Shin Bet, Israel's secret service, and commander-in-chief of the Navy. He came in second to Ehud Barak in a Labor party leadership election in June 2007, and was appointed a Minister without Portfolio in September 2007. Amnon Reshef (Hebrew: אמנון רשף; born August 29, 1938) is a retired IDF major general who served as 14th Brigade Commander in the Yom Kippur War and as Commanding General of the Armored Corps from 1979 to 1982. Assaf Hefetz
Assaf Hefetz ( he, אסף חפץ; born 1944) was commissioner of the Israeli Police. Biography Hefetz was drafted into the Israeli Defense Forces in 1962. He volunteered as a paratrooper in the Paratroopers Brigade. He served as a soldier and a squad leader. In 1964 he became an infantry officer after completing Officer Candidate School and returned to the Paratroopers Brigade as a platoon leader in the Brigade's 890 battalion. Hefetz fought in the Six-Day War and the War of Attrition. During the Yom Kippur War he commanded a paratroop force through the battles in the Sinai Peninsula, and afterwards commanded the 202 paratroop battalion. Yaakov Turner ( he, יעקב טרנר, born 27 February 1935) was the mayor of Beersheba. Prior to his election as mayor, he was an Israel Air Force pilot and Israel's Chief of Police. Herzl Shekhterman Shafir ( he, הרצל שפיר; July 10, 1929 - September 26, 2021) was an Israel Defense Forces Major General, head of the Manpower Directorate, head of Israel's Southern Command, and later assistant head of the Operations Directorate. Avihu Ben-Nun
Avihu Ben-Nun ( he, אביהו בן-נון; born 24 December 1939) was the 11th commander of the Israeli Air Force between 1987 and 1992. Biography Ben-Nun enlisted in the Israeli Air Force in 1957 and became a fighter pilot. In 1963 he began flying the Dassault Mirage III, yet on the eve of the Six-Day War became deputy commander of 116 "Defenders of the South" squadron, flying Dassault Mysteres. He assumed temporary command of the squadron after its commander was forced to eject early in the war. After the war he was assigned to 119 Squadron, which at the time was based at Tel Nof Airbase. Aluf Amos Lapidot ( he, עמוס לפידות; &lrm); (1934 – November 20, 2019) was an Israeli fighter pilot who served as the tenth Commander of the Israeli Air Force, a position he held from 1982 to 1987.
