Clube Ferroviário De Maputo
Clube Ferroviário de Maputo, or simply Ferroviário, is a Mozambique multi sports club from Maputo especially known for its football operations but also for its basketball and roller hockey team. History The club was founded in 1924, as ''Clube Ferroviário de Lourenço Marques''. In 1976, the club was renamed to ''Clube Ferroviário de Maputo''. In 1982, the club won its first two titles, the Cup of Mozambique, and the Mozambican League. After winning the Moçambola in 2008 and in 2009, they finished in the fifth position in the 2011 edition of the league, concluded on November 6, 2011. They won the Taça de Moçambique in the same year, after they defeated Chingale de Tete in the final. Stadium The club plays their home matches at Estádio da Machava, which has a maximum capacity of 45,000 people. Estádio Da Machava
The Estádio da Machava is a multi-purpose stadium in Machava, a mainly residential subdivision of the city of Matola, in the outskirts of Maputo, Mozambique. It is used for football matches and can hold 60,000 spectators. The stadium was built by the Portuguese colonial government of Mozambique and inaugurated as ''Estádio Salazar'', named after the Portuguese dictator António de Oliveira Salazar, on 30 June 1968 with a match between Portugal and Brazil, which the latter, formally the visitors, won 2:0. Ferroviário De Maputo (basketball)
Clube Ferroviário de Maputo is a basketball club based in Maputo, Mozambique. The team competes in the Mozambican League. In the Mozambican League, Maputo has won eleven national titles. Ferroviário played in the 2021 season of the Basketball Africa League (BAL). History The parent club found in October 1924 as Clube Ferroviário de Loruenço Marques, as the city of Maputo was named Loruenço Marques until 1976. The club was only active in football, until the basketball section was founded in the 1960s. In 1962, the basketball club won its first national championship. In 1975, the team won two national championship as well. Then, it took 30 years for Ferroviário to return at the top of Mozambican basketball, as the team won its next national championship in 2005. The CAF Cup was an annual competition organised by the CAF for domestic leagues runners-up of member associations who have not qualified to the pre-existing CAF international club competition the African Cup of Champions Clubs.
