Christopher James Adams (6 September 1927 – 24 June 2012) was an English footballer whose position was outside left. Playing career Adams started his career playing for various local teams in Essex before joining Leytonstone. He signed for Tottenham Hotspur as an apprentice in 1947, before turning professional the following year and playing in the top division of English football. After four years at Spurs he made a total of just six appearances. Although his solitary goal came on his debut in a win 5–0 victory over Derby County at White Hart Lane in March 1952. Adams signed for Norwich in 1952 and went on to feature in 29 matches and found the net on three occasions. Christopher Adams (10 February 1955 – 7 October 2001), best known as "Gentleman" Chris Adams, was an English professional wrestler, wrestling promoter, trainer, and judoka. By age 21, he was a three-time British National Judo Champion in his age and weight classes. In professional wrestling, Adams gained his greatest success in World Class Championship Wrestling (WCCW), where he became the promotion's World Heavyweight Champion and one of its biggest stars. He also performed for companies such as World Championship Wrestling (WCW), and the Universal Wrestling Association (UWA), where he held the World Wrestling Federation's (WWF) Light Heavyweight Championship. All told, he held 26 titles over a 23-year career. Christopher John Adams (born 6 May 1970) is an English former first-class cricketer who briefly represented his nation at Test and One Day International level. He is the current interim head coach of the Dutch national team. Playing career An aggressive right-handed batsman, occasional right-arm off spin bowler and specialist slip fielder, Adams enjoyed a successful first-class career for Derbyshire and Sussex. Adams made his first-class debut as an eighteen-year-old for Derbyshire in one match the 1988 season and stayed there until the 1997 season, when he left to join Sussex as captain. History Formation String Driven Thing formed in Glasgow in 1967 as a three-part harmony folk band with the Adamses and guitarist John Mannion. After paying their dues on the Scottish folk circuit they put out an eponymous album on the independent Concord label (copies of which are collectable and difficult to find) although a long way from their later Charisma label output.
