Chennai railway division is a railway division of the Southern Railway (SR), India covering the districts of Northern Tamil Nadu and southern Andhra Pradesh. Royapuram Railway Station
Royapuram railway station (station code: RPM) is a railway station at Royapuram, on the Chennai Beach–Walajapet section of the Chennai Suburban Railway network in Chennai, India. It is the second oldest railway station currently operational in India after Howrah railway station situated in Howrah, West Bengal (the original structures of the two older stations, Bombay and , are no longer operational) and the first railway station of South India. The first train of South India started operating in June 1856 from Royapuram railway station. The station also remained the headquarters of the Madras and Southern Mahratta Railway till 1922, when the headquarters was shifted to Egmore. Since the original structures of Bombay and Thane stations no longer exist, Royapuram station remains the oldest railway station in the entire subcontinent. Anna Nagar Railway Station
Anna Nagar railway station is one of the two, now defunct, railway stations of the extended southern arm of the Chennai Central–Arakkonam section of the Chennai Suburban Railway Network, the other being Padi railway station. It served the neighbourhood of Anna Nagar, a suburb of Chennai. The station is located on Thirumangalam road, a road that connects Anna Nagar West with Villivakkam, near New Avadi Road, away from the commercial centre of the neighbourhood. The station is being maintained by the Integral Coach Factory (ICF), the premier production unit of the Indian railways. Padi railway station is one of the two, now defunct, railway stations of the extended southern arm of the Chennai Central–Arakkonam section of the Chennai Suburban Railway Network, the other one being Anna Nagar railway station. It served the neighbourhoods of Padi, Villivakkam, Korattur and Anna Nagar. The station is located at the junction of 100-feet Inner Ring Road—MTH Road, known as the Padi Junction. Tiruvallur railway station is one of the railway stations of the Chennai Central–Arakkonam section of the Chennai Suburban Railway Network. It is one of the terminal and oldest stations in the network where some of the suburban trains originate and terminate.
