The Cross-Strait high-level talks are a series of meetings between * the president of the Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits (ARATS), People's Republic of China and * the chairman of the Straits Exchange Foundation (SEF), Republic of China (Taiwan). The two semi-governmental organizations represent their respective governments to deal with the Cross-Strait relations. Taichung (, Wade–Giles: ''Tʻai²-chung¹'', pinyin: ''Táizhōng''), officially Taichung City, is a special municipality located in central Taiwan. Taichung has approximately 2.8 million residents and is the second most populous city of Taiwan, as well as the most populous city in Central Taiwan. 2014 Wang–Zhang Meetings
In 2014, a series of groundbreaking diplomatic meetings was held between Wang Yu-chi, in his official capacity as the Minister of the Mainland Affairs Council (MAC) of the Republic of China (ROC), and Zhang Zhijun, the Minister of the Taiwan Affairs Office (TAO) of the People's Republic of China (PRC). The first meeting took place in Nanjing on 11 February 2014 when Wang visited mainland China, the very first official contact between the two governments across the Taiwan Strait after the end of Chinese Civil War in 1949. The tour of Wang and his delegates lasted from 11 to 14 February in Nanjing and Shanghai. On 25–28 June 2014, Zhang paid a retrospective visit to Taiwan in order to rebuild ties in the aftermath of the Sunflower Movement. It was the highest PRC government official visit to Taiwan. Fuzhou (; , Fuzhounese: Hokchew, ''Hók-ciŭ''), alternately romanized as Foochow, is the capital and one of the largest cities in Fujian province, China. Chen Deming
Chen Deming (; born 1949) is a former the President of Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits of the People's Republic of China. Early life Chen was born in Shanghai in 1949. He went on to receive a Bachelor's Degree in Economics, a Master's Degree from the Hopkins-Nanjing Center, and later a Doctorate in Administration from Nanjing University Business School. In 1969 he joined the workforce and in September 1974, Chen joined the Communist Party of China. Political life Chen was Mayor and later CPC Committee Secretary of Suzhou. He then was the Governor of Shaanxi from 2004 to 2006. Then he was a Deputy at the National Development and Reform Commission, where he largely dealt with matters pertaining to China's energy policy. He was the Minister of the Chinese Ministry of Commerce from 2007 to 2013. He was appointed to the post at the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress on December 29, 2007. Seventh Chen–Chiang Summit
The Seventh Chen–Chiang summit (第七次陳江會談) is part of a series of the Chen-Chiang summit of cross-strait meetings. It is held between the Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits (ARATS) represented by Chen Yun-lin and Straits Exchange Foundation (SEF) represented by Chiang Pin-kung. Meeting The seventh meeting was held from October 19 to 21, 2011 at Tianjin, Mainland China. The two sides signed a nuclear safety pact. Under the agreement the two sides guarantee transparency of construction of nuclear plants and the monitoring of existing stations. In the meeting China said they have 14 nuclear reactors with 26 reactors under construction. This pact is to improve cooperation in case of disasters such as a tsunami. Sixth Chen–Chiang Summit
The Sixth Chen–Chiang summit () is the 6th part of the Chen-Chiang summit of cross-strait meetings. It is held between the Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits (ARATS) represented by Chen Yun-lin and Straits Exchange Foundation (SEF) represented by Chiang Pin-kung. Meeting The sixth meeting was held on 20-22 December 2010 at Grand Hotel, Taipei, Taiwan.
