Charles Ian Fraser
Charles Ian Fraser of Reelig (1903 – 1963) was a Scottish British Army officer, historian and officer of arms. Fraser was a commissioned officer in the Lovat Scouts. He served in the Second World War and in 1942 he was awarded the Efficiency Decoration. In 1944 he was appointed a Deputy Lieutenant for Inverness-shire. He was confirmed in the honorary rank of Major in 1951. He was later granted the honorary rank of Colonel. He was made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire in the 1962 New Year Honours for his work as Chairman of the Territorial and Auxiliary Forces Association of the County of Inverness. Laird () is the owner of a large, long-established Scottish estate. In the traditional Scottish order of precedence, a laird ranked below a baron and above a gentleman. This rank was held only by those lairds holding official recognition in a territorial designation by the Lord Lyon King of Arms. They are usually styled 'name'' 'surname''of 'lairdship'' However, since "laird" is a courtesy title, it has no formal status in law. Historically, the term bonnet laird was applied to rural, petty landowners, as they wore a bonnet like the non-landowning classes. Charles John Burnett is a Scottish antiquarian and former officer of arms. Burnett was born in 1940 and educated at Gray's School of Art in Aberdeen, and the University of Edinburgh. He has worked for a number of museums, including: Letchworth Museum, the National Museum of Antiquities of Scotland, the National War Museum, Scottish United Services Museum at Edinburgh Castle, and Duff House, Banff, Aberdeenshire, Banff Burnett was appointed Dingwall Pursuivant of Arms in Ordinary in 1983 and promoted to Ross Herald of Arms in Ordinary in 1988. He retired as an officer of arms in ordinary in 2010 and was appointed Ross Herald Extraordinary for a period of five years, demitting office on 31 December 2015. Francis James Grant
Sir Francis James Grant (1863–1953) was a Scottish officer of arms who eventually rose to the office of Lord Lyon King of Arms. Grant served in the Court of the Lord Lyon as Carrick Pursuivant of Arms in Ordinary beginning on 17 May 1886. This appointment lasted until his promotion to the office of Rothesay Herald of Arms in Ordinary and Lyon Clerk and Keeper of the Records on 8 September 1898. On 10 May 1929, he was appointed Lord Lyon King of Arms and Secretary of the Order of the Thistle. He was made a Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order in 1935. Grant retired from the office on 30 June 1945. He was the representative of Grant of Corrimony, and was the son of John Grant, Marchmont Herald of Arms in Ordinary from 1884 to 1888. He was elected a Fellow of the American Society of Genealogists in 1944.
