Center For Popular Democracy
The Center for Popular Democracy (CPD) is an American advocacy group that promotes Progressivism in the United States, progressive politics. CPD is a federation of groups that includes some of the old chapters of Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, ACORN. The group's stated goal is to "envision and win an innovative pro-worker, pro-immigrant, racial and economic justice agenda." The organization is allied with teachers’ unions and has published studies criticizing charter schools. Campaigns and actions The organization gained national prominence during the protests over Brett Kavanaugh's nomination to the United States Supreme Court. GiveWell
GiveWell is an American non-profit charity assessment and effective altruism-focused organization. GiveWell focuses primarily on the cost-effectiveness of the organizations that it evaluates, rather than traditional metrics such as the percentage of the organization's budget that is spent on overhead. The Democracy Alliance is a network of progressive donors who coordinate their political donations to groups that the Alliance has endorsed. It has been described by ''Politico'' as "the country's most powerful liberal donor club". Members of the Democracy Alliance are required to contribute at least $200,000 a year to groups the Democracy Alliance vets and recommends. From its founding in 2005 through 2014, the Alliance helped distribute approximately $500 million to liberal organizations.
