Yuen Long is a town in the western New Territories, Hong Kong. To its west lie Hung Shui Kiu (), Tin Shui Wai, Lau Fau Shan and Ha Tsuen, to the south Shap Pat Heung and Tai Tong, to the east Au Tau and Kam Tin (), and to the north Nam Sang Wai. Name According to Gazetteer of Xin'an County (新安縣志) and other ancient maps, Yuen Long was first written as 圓蓢 (lit. Castle Peak Road
Castle Peak Road ( Chinese: 青山公路) is the longest road in Hong Kong. Completed in 1920, it has the approximate shape of an arc of a semi-circle. It runs west from Tai Po Road in Sham Shui Po, New Kowloon, to Tuen Mun, then north to Yuen Long and east to Sheung Shui, in the very north of the New Territories; it is divided into 22 sections. Sai Pin Wai (), sometimes transliterated as Sai Bin Wai, is a Walled villages of Hong Kong, walled village in the Yuen Long Kau Hui area of Yuen Long District, Hong Kong. Administration Sai Pin Wai is a recognized village under the New Territories Small House Policy. For electoral purposes, Sai Pin Wai is located in the Shap Pat Heung North (constituency), Shap Pat Heung North constituency of the Yuen Long District Council. It is currently represented by Shum Ho-kit, who was elected in the 2019 Hong Kong local elections, 2019 elections. Yuen Long Station
Yuen Long () is an MTR station in the north-eastern part of Yuen Long Town, New Territories, Hong Kong, on the between and . It is an interchange between the and Yuen Long stop of the system. History Yuen Long and Long Ping station were built under a combined contract, numbered CC-202, which was awarded to the AMEC-Hong Kong Construction Joint Venture. The contract, worth HK$1.76 billion, commenced in September 1999. Piling was completed at Yuen Long station in November 2001, while the superstructure and civil works were completed by March 2002. Tai Kei Leng () is a village in Shap Pat Heung, Yuen Long District, Hong Kong. Features Several buildings in the village have been listed as Heritage conservation in Hong Kong, Grade III historic buildings: they are the houses at Nos. 26, 27, 45, 112, 119, 173, 186 and 188, Siu Lo () at No. 643, as well as the Ji Yeung Study Hall () at No. 23 of the village. Light Rail (MTR)
The Light Rail, also known as the Light Rail Transit (LRT), officially the North-West Railway, is a light rail system in Hong Kong, serving the northwestern New Territories, within Tuen Mun District and Yuen Long District. The system operates over track, using overhead power supply. It was once one of four systems comprising the KCR network in Hong Kong, before the MTR–KCR merger in 2007. It has a daily ridership of about 483,000 people. The network is coloured goldenrod on the MTR map. Tin Shui Wai New Town
Tin Shui Wai New Town is a satellite town in the northwestern New Territories of Hong Kong. Originally a ' () fish pond area, it was developed in the 1980s as the second new town in Yuen Long District and the eighth in Hong Kong. It is due northwest of Central, the main business area in the territory, on land reclaimed from low-lying areas south of Deep Bay, next to Ping Shan. The population was 283,595 as of 2021. History The land on which Tin Shui Wai was built did not exist at the beginning of the 1900s, while the adjacent Ping Shan was by the sea. The water north of Ping Shan gradually turned to marshes and villagers converted them into pools and rice paddies. The pools became ''gei wai'' fish ponds where most of the residents were fishermen before the new town was developed. With the decline in aquaculture, most of the fish ponds were abandoned.
