Women's National Invitation Tournament
The Women's National Invitation Tournament (WNIT) is a women's national college basketball tournament. It used to feature both a preseason and postseason version played every year, but the preseason tournament was last held in 2023. It is operated in a similar fashion to the men's college National Invitation Tournament (NIT) and NIT Season Tip-Off. Unlike the NIT, the women's tournament is not run by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), but is an independent tournament. Triple Crown Sports, a company based in Fort Collins, Colorado that specializes in the promotion of amateur sporting events, created the WNIT in 1994 as a preseason counterpart to the then-current National Women's Invitational Tournament (NWIT). After the NWIT folded in 1996, Triple Crown Sports resurrected the postseason version in 1998 under the NWIT name, but changed the following season to the current name. 2023–24 Baylor Bears Women's Basketball Team
The 2023–24 Baylor Bears women's basketball team represented Baylor University during the 2023–24 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The Bears were led by third-year head coach Nicki Collen and played their 2023 home games at the Ferrell Center and 2024 games at the Foster Pavilion. Baylor Lady Bears Basketball
The Baylor Bears women's basketball team represents Baylor University in Waco, Texas, in NCAA Division I women's basketball competition. They currently compete in the Big 12 Conference. The team plays its home games in the Foster Pavilion. Before the 2021–22 season, the team had been known as the "Lady Bears", but on September 3, 2021, the school officially announced that women's basketball had dropped "Lady" from its nickname. At the same time, soccer and volleyball, the other two Baylor women's teams that were still using "Lady" in their nicknames, also abandoned that usage. Ohio State Buckeyes Women's Basketball
The Ohio State women's basketball team represents Ohio State University and plays its home games in the Value City Arena at the Jerome Schottenstein Center, which they moved into in 1998. Prior to 1998, they played at St. John Arena. They have won 14 Big Ten titles (two additional championships have been vacated by the NCAA), which is the most in the conference and have 23 appearances in the NCAA Tournament, the most recent being in 2023 (two other appearances have been vacated). 2001 Women's National Invitation Tournament
The 2001 Women's National Invitation Tournament was a single-elimination tournament of 32 NCAA Division I teams that were not selected to participate in the 2001 Women's NCAA tournament. It was the fourth edition of the postseason Women's National Invitation Tournament (WNIT). The final four of the tournament paired Hawaii against New Mexico and Ohio State against James Madison. The Kohl Center is a multi-purpose arena located at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, United States. The arena opened in 1998 and is the home of the university's men's basketball and ice hockey teams, and the women's basketball team.
