The Villager (Austin, Texas)
''The Villager'' is a free weekly newspaper published in Austin, Texas, serving the African-American community. The paper covers issues of local interest and also national and international stories. A unique section of the paper is "The Youth Brigade", which includes articles submitted by students from area schools. Students earn a stipend for their submission of articles about their school or community. When the Villager was started in 1973 it was a one-man operation with Tommy Wyatt doing all the story writing and selling of advertisements. He also shot and developed the photographs. The Villager currently lists six staff, including (Tommy) T. L. Wyatt, Editor-in-Chief and his son, Thomas Wyatt, webmaster and handling distribution. The ''Villager'', formerly the ''Highland Villager'', is a Saint Paul, Minnesota newspaper. It was founded by Barry Prichard and Arnold Hed in 1953 as the ''Highland Villager'', after Saint Paul's Highland Park neighborhood, and is the oldest community newspaper in the Twin Cities. It was the first paper to be distributed in both of the Twin Cities; Minneapolis and Saint Paul. In 2007 it absorbed a sister paper, ''Avenues'' (which had been called ''Grand Gazette'' till 2003). Villagers are an Irish indie folk band and the musical project of the sole long-term member, Conor J O'Brien who is a singer-songwriter based in Dublin, Ireland.. Widely known for his production, arrangements and thought-provoking lyrics, O'Brien currently releases Villagers material via Domino Recording Co. The Mercury Villager is a minivan that was marketed by Mercury (automobile), Mercury from 1993 to 2002. Taking its name used by Mercury to denote its wood-trimmed station wagons, the Villager was developed in a joint venture between Ford Motor Company, Ford and Nissan; the latter manufacturer marketed the line as the Nissan Quest. Edsel Villager
The Edsel Villager is a station wagon that was produced and sold by Edsel from 1958 to 1960. Introduced using the narrower Ford station wagon body, the Villager was a divisional counterpart of the Ford Country Sedan. As the Edsel Ranger was derived from the Ford Fairlane, the Villager shared much of its body stampings with the Country Sedan wagon.
