Venados de Mazatlán () are a professional baseball team in the Mexican Pacific League based in Mazatlan, Sinaloa. History In February 1958, Venados participated in an international tournament, dubbed the Pan-American Series, against two other club champions: Vanytor of the Colombian League and Leones of the Nicaraguan League. 2004–05: Championship and Caribbean Series In the 2004–2005 season, the Venados of Mazatlán won the Mexican Pacific League title for the seventh time. The Caribbean Series was held at Teodoro Mariscal Stadium in Mazatlán, and the Venados performed well out of the gate, winning twice against the Dominican Republic's Águilas Cibaeñas and Puerto Rico's Indios de Mayaguez. The 2005 team had a star-studded lineup, including Miguel Ojeda, Elmer Dessens, Luis Ayala, Jorge Campillo, Vinny Castilla, Erubiel Durazo, Johnny Gomes, and Francisco Campos. Miguel Arturo Ojeda (born January 29, 1975) is a Mexican former professional baseball catcher. He has also served as a manager for both the Mexican League and Minor League Baseball, winning the 2014 Mexican League championship with the Diablos Rojos del México. Playing career Minor League Career Ojeda was signed by the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1993 from the Mexico City Reds. Major League Career Ojeda played in Major League Baseball from 2003 to 2006. Mitchell David Lively (born September 7, 1985) is an American professional baseball pitcher who is a free agent. He has previously played in Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) for the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters and in the Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL) for the CTBC Brothers. The Tigres de Aragua () is a baseball team that plays in the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League and represents the state of Aragua. Founded in 1965, the Tigres plays its home games at the Estadio José Pérez Colmenares in Maracay. Francisco Machado Campos (born 12 August 1972) is a Mexican former professional baseball pitcher. He is a 15-time Mexican League All-Star and played with the Campeche Pirates for more than 20 seasons. He was born in Guaymas, Sonora. Campos finished his career in the Mexican League with a record of 200–148, a 3.35 ERA and 2,181 strikeouts across 3,038.1 innings pitched.
