Vaasa Market Hall
Vaasa Market Hall (; ) is a Gothic architecture, Gothic-style market hall in the city center of Vaasa, Finland. The market hall includes seven different shops, such as the fish store Ruostsala Snickars and the café Wasa Konditori. The building was designed by (1866–1952), the province architect of Vaasa, and is built in two parts. The first part, the so-called lower hall, was completed in 1902, and the latter part, the so-called upper hall, which was also built according to Stenfors' drawings, was completed in 1927. The access between the two was opened in 1963. The developer and owner of the market hall is Halli Oy, which was founded by Stenfors, court council Oskar Rewell and bank manager K. H. Majantie in 1900. The Port of Vaasa ( Finnish: ''Vaasan satama'', Swedish: ''Vasa hamn'') is a mixed-use port in the city of Vaasa on the west coast of Finland, in the Kvarken area of the Gulf of Bothnia. It is situated on the island of Vaskiluoto, some due west of the Vaasa city centre, and connected to the mainland by the Vaskiluoto road and rail bridge. The port is serviced by the tracks and infrastructure of Vaskiluoto railway station. In 2018, inbound (import) cargo traffic accounted for 80% of the port's total throughput, with the majority of this consisting of coal and oil intended as fuel for the nearby Vaskiluoto power stations. The port also serves as a terminal for passenger and vehicle ferries to Umeå, Sweden, operated by Wasa Line. In 2018, the port handled over 200,000 passengers. Vaskiluoto (Swedish language, Swedish: ''Vasklot'') is a Finnish island in the Gulf of Bothnia, immediately in front of the city centre of Vaasa, Finland. It is connected to the mainland by the Vaskiluoto road and rail bridge, and has a surface area of . Vaskiluoto is also one of the 12 districts of the city of Vaasa, with a population of 390 residents and 900 jobs. Facilities located on the island include the Port of Vaasa, with (among other things) a regular ferry service by Wasa Line to Umeå, Sweden, the Vaskiluoto power stations complex, as well as various leisure and tourist attractions. The mostly disused Vaskiluoto railway station is situated on the island, and continues to service the port terminal. White Finland
White Finland (officially known simply as Finland) is the name given to the anti-communist refugee and provisional government declared in Finland following the October Revolution. Its forces, known as the Whites (, ; , ), led by Carl Gustaf Emil Mannerheim, fought against the forces of the rival Finnish Socialist Workers' Republic, known as the " Reds", during the Finnish Civil War in 1918. At the start of the civil war, the Whites controlled the majority of Finland's territory, chiefly its central and northern areas. These were largely rural areas however, and most industrial centres, including the capital of Helsinki, were under Red control, forcing the senate to relocate to the coastal city of Vaasa.
