Uintah County ( ) is a County (United States), county in the U.S. state of Utah. As of the 2020 United States census the population was 35,620. Its county seat and largest city is Vernal, Utah, Vernal. The county was named for the portion of the Ute Tribe, Ute Native American (U.S.), Indian tribe that lived in the basin. Uintah County is the largest natural gas producer in Utah, with 272 billion Standard cubic foot, cubic feet produced in 2008. The Vernal, UT Micropolitan Statistical Area includes all of Uintah County. Uintah County is home to one of the nine statewide regional campuses of Utah State University (located in the city of Vernal) and serves as a gateway to Dinosaur National Monument and the Uinta Mountains, Uintah Mountain Range. Dinosaur National Monument
Dinosaur National Monument is an American national monument located on the southeast flank of the Uinta Mountains on the border between Colorado and Utah at the confluence of the Green River (Colorado River tributary), Green and Yampa River, Yampa rivers. Although most of the monument area is in Moffat County, Colorado, the Dinosaur Quarry is located in Utah, north of the town of Jensen, Utah. The Uintah and Ouray Indian Reservation (, ) is located in northeastern Utah, United States. It is the homeland of the Ute Indian Tribe (Ute dialect: Núuchi-u), and is the largest of three Indian reservations inhabited by members of the Ute Tribe of Native Americans.
