Transitway (Ottawa)
The Transitway is a bus rapid transit (BRT) network operated by OC Transpo in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It comprises a series of bus-only roadways and reserved lanes on city streets and highways. The dedicated busways ensure that buses and emergency vehicles on the Transitway rarely intersect directly with regular traffic, making it possible to run quickly and consistently, even during rush hour traffic. OC Transpo operates a network of rapid routes which use the Transitway to connect communities with the O-Train light rail system. Additional bus routes also use segments of the Transitway. The Transitway opened in 1983 with five stations. The network expanded greatly to include over fifty stations at its peak. Greenboro Station
Greenboro station is a transitway stop and O-Train Line 2 (Trillium Line) station in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It is located at Bank Street and Johnston Road at the north end of the South Keys shopping complex. The station has a 678-space paid park and ride lot. The bus terminus was opened with the southern transitway on September 2, 1995. From 2001 to 2020, Greenboro station served as the southern terminus for the Trillium Line. With the line's reopening on January 6, 2025, Greenboro station became a through station, while Limebank station serves as the line's new terminus. Woodroffe Avenue
Woodroffe Avenue ( Ottawa Road #15) is a major north-south arterial road in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada's west end. It runs south from the Kichi Zibi Mikan through Baseline Road and Barrhaven to just short of Prince of Wales Drive near Manotick. The road runs through the heart of Nepean in Ottawa's west end. Westboro (often referred to as Westboro Village) is an area in the west end of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Located along the Ottawa River, Island Park Drive defines Westboro's eastern border, while the Ottawa River defines its northern border. Hurdman station is a major station on Ottawa's O-Train Line 1, and bus rapid transit (BRT) system, Transitway. Location The station is located southeast of Hurdman Bridge, and south of where Highway 417 crosses the Rideau River. It is also located near the intersection of Industrial Avenue and Riverside Drive/Vanier Parkway. There are connections from Hurdman station to the nearby neighbourhood of Riverview to the east, with a bus-only road connecting to Alta Vista Drive. There are also connections for bicycle users, as Hurdman station is located near to the Rideau River bicycle path. Lees Station
Lees station is an OC Transpo light rail station in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It had previously been a Transitway station, which closed in January 2016 and was converted into an O-Train station. Location It is located south of the Highway 417 just to the west of the Rideau River. It serves the Lees Avenue and Sandy Hill Heights communities, as well as the Lees Campus of the University of Ottawa. History The transitway station has had quite a notorious history for serious incidents. Soon after the station was constructed, coal tar began seeping into the station and it was closed for two months. It was soon discovered that this industrial waste was under much of the Lees Avenue area, necessitating a $6 million cleanup operation. Baseline Station
Baseline station (Transitway (Ottawa), Transitway) or Algonquin station (O-Train) is a public transit station directly across from the main campus of Algonquin College in Ottawa's west end, near the intersection of Woodroffe Avenue and Baseline Road (Ottawa), Baseline Road. Several residential and business areas such as Centrepointe and College Square, Ottawa, College Square are also served by this station. Lincoln Fields Station
Lincoln Fields station is a station on Ottawa's transitway located at Carling Avenue and the Kichi Zībī Mīkan. It is adjacent to the now-shuttered Lincoln Fields Shopping Centre.
