Tramlink
Tramlink, previously Croydon Tramlink and currently branded as London Trams, is a light rail tram system serving Croydon and surrounding areas in South London, England. It is the first operational tram system serving the London region since 1952. Tramlink is presently managed by London Trams, a public body part of Transport for London (TfL), and has been operated by FirstGroup since 2017. It is one of two light rail networks in Greater London, the other being the Docklands Light Railway. Tramlink is the fourth-busiest light rail network in the UK behind the Docklands Light Railway, Manchester Metrolink and Tyne and Wear Metro. Studies for the delivery of a modern-day tram system in Croydon began in the 1960s and detailed planning was performed in the 1980s. Wimbledon Station
Wimbledon is an interchange station in the centre of Wimbledon, London, Wimbledon for London Underground, Tramlink, London Trams and National Rail services, and is the only station in London that provides an interchange between the London Underground and Tramlink. Beckenham Junction Station
Beckenham Junction is the main railway and tram station in Beckenham in the London Borough of Bromley, south London. The railway stop is on the Chatham Main Line, down the line from and situated between and . The tram stop is one of the eastern termini of Tramlink. For train journeys, Beckenham Junction is in Travelcard Zone 4. Bombardier CR4000
The Bombardier CR4000 is a 76% low floor model of the Bombardier Flexity Swift trams operated by Tramlink in London. They are based on and very similar in appearance to the K4000 used on the low-platform routes of the Cologne Stadtbahn network. Built between 1998 and 2000, the trams entered service in the spring of 2000. History 24 trams were ordered from Bombardier Transportation and built at its factory in Vienna, Austria between 1998 and 2000. The first tram, 2530, was delivered to Therapia Lane depot on 13 September 1998, with testing beginning soon afterwards. Although service was due to begin in November 1999, delays in the construction of the line meant that the first tram entered passenger service on 10 May 2000. Sutton Link
The Sutton Link is a proposed new tram line in South London, between Colliers Wood via St Helier to Sutton. Proposed since the early 2000s, consultations on the proposed route took place in the late 2010s. A preferred route was announced in February 2020. Financial issues caused by the COVID-19 pandemic led Transport for London to put the project on hold in July 2020. Despite being identified in the London Plan, the project was cancelled in 2023, due to a "weak business case" and lack of funding. Elmers End Station
Elmers End is a railway station and tram terminus in Elmers End, south London, England. It lies in the London Borough of Bromley and is down the line from London Charing Cross. History Early years (1857-1922) The Mid Kent line was built by the Mid-Kent and North Kent Junction Railway (MK&NKJR) and was opened on 1 January 1857 as far as Beckenham Junction. The Stadler Variobahn (formerly sold as the ABB Variotram, Adtranz Variotram and Bombardier Variotram) is a German-designed model of articulated low-floor tram and light rail vehicle.
