Trafford is a metropolitan borough of Greater Manchester, England, with an estimated population of in . It covers and includes the area of Old Trafford (area), Old Trafford and the towns of Altrincham, Stretford, Urmston, Partington and Sale, Greater Manchester, Sale. The borough was formed in 1974 as a merger of six former districts and part of a seventh. The River Mersey flows through the borough, separating North Trafford from South Trafford, and the Historic counties of England, historic counties of Lancashire and Cheshire. Trafford is the seventh-most populous district in Greater Manchester. There is evidence of Neolithic, Bronze Age, and Roman Empire, Roman activity in the area, two castles – one of them a Scheduled Ancient Monument – and over 200 listed buildings. Altrincham
Altrincham ( , locally ) is a market town in Trafford, Greater Manchester, England, south of the River Mersey. It is southwest of Manchester, southwest of Sale, Greater Manchester, Sale and east of Warrington. At the 2021 United Kingdom census, 2021 census, the built up area had a population of 49,680. It lies within the Historic counties of England, historic county boundaries of Cheshire, and became part of Greater Manchester in 1974. Altrincham developed as a market town following the right to hold a market being granted in 1290; the market continues today. Andrew Western
Andrew Howard Western (born 18 March 1985) is a British politician serving as Member of Parliament (MP) for Stretford and Urmston since 2022. A member of the Labour Party, he has been Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Transformation in the Department for Work and Pensions since 2024. Trafford Council, or Trafford Metropolitan Borough Council, is the local authority of the Metropolitan Borough of Trafford in Greater Manchester, England. Trafford Town Hall is a neo-classical building in Stretford, Trafford, Greater Manchester, England. It is the meeting place of Trafford Council and was originally known as "Stretford Town Hall". The building faces Emirates Old Trafford to the south and is within 500 metres of Manchester United's Football Ground to the north. Dunham Massey Hall
Dunham Massey Hall, usually known simply as Dunham Massey, is an English country house in the parish of Dunham Massey, in the district of Trafford, Greater Manchester, England. During World War I, it was temporarily used as the Stamford Military Hospital. It was designated a Grade I listed building on 5 March 1959. It has been owned by the National Trust since the death of Roger Grey, 10th and last Earl of Stamford, in 1976. Dunham Massey was rebuilt in the early 18th century by George Booth, 2nd Earl of Warrington. He had inherited an older mansion from his father, which was in a very poor state of repair.
