Test Valley
Test Valley is a local government district with borough status in Hampshire, England, named after the valley of the River Test. The council is based in the borough's largest town of Andover. The borough also contains the town of Romsey and numerous villages and surrounding rural areas. A small part of the borough at its southern end lies within the New Forest National Park, and part of the borough north of Andover lies within the North Wessex Downs, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The neighbouring districts are Basingstoke and Deane, Winchester, and Eastleigh rto the east, Southampton and New Forest to the south, Wiltshire to the west and West Berkshire to the north. 2023 Test Valley Borough Council Election
The 2023 Test Valley Borough Council election took place on 4 May 2023 to elect members of Test Valley Borough Council in England. This was on the same day as other local elections. The whole council of 43 members was up for election across 20 wards. Background At the previous election in 2019 the localist group the Andover Alliance won seven seats on the Council. However, from the beginning of their terms of office they were plagued by internal disputes and defections and they ceased to exist as a group prior to the 2023 election. As a consequence they did not field any candidates at this election, although some of their councillors chose to stand as independents. None were successful. The Conservatives proved to be the beneficiaries of the Andover Alliance's collapse gaining all seven of their seats. The 2019 Test Valley Borough Council election took place on 2 May 2019 to elect members of Test Valley Borough Council in England. This was on the same day as other United Kingdom local elections, 2019, local elections. The whole council was up for election on new boundaries, with the number of seats reduced from 48 across 24 wards to 43 across 20. 2011 Test Valley Borough Council Election
Elections to Test Valley Borough Council were held on 5 May 2011, the same day as the 2011 United Kingdom Alternative Vote referendum. The Conservatives maintained control of the council, with an increased majority. Candidates and results Before the election, the council consisted of 33 Conservatives, 14 Liberal Democrats and 1 Independent. Only the Conservatives contested all 48 seats. The Liberal Democrats contested 43 seats, while Labour contested 14, the UK Independence Party 7 and the Greens 2. There were also 3 independent candidates. Two wards, Bourne Valley and Over Wallop, were uncontested, meaning the Conservative candidates were elected by default.
