Syros ( ), also known as Siros or Syra, is a Greece, Greek island in the Cyclades, in the Aegean Sea. It is south-east of Athens. The area of the island is and at the 2021 census it had 21,124 inhabitants. The largest towns are Ermoupoli, Ano Syros, and . Ermoupoli is the capital of the island, the Cyclades, and the South Aegean. It has always been a significant port town, and during the 19th century it was even more significant than Piraeus. Other villages are Galissas, Foinikas, Pagos, Manna, Kini, Azolimnos Syros, Azolimnos and Poseidonia. Ermoupoli Ermoupoli () stands on a naturally amphitheater, amphitheatrical site, with neo-classical buildings, old mansions, and white houses cascading down to the harbour. Ano Syros (, “Upper Syros”) is a town and a former municipality on the island of Syros, in the Cyclades, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Syros-Ermoupoli, of which it is a municipal unit. Ermoupoli (), also known by the formal older name Ermoupolis or Hermoupolis ( < "Town of Hermes"), is a town and former Communities and Municipalities of Greece, municipality on the island of Syros, in the Cyclades, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform, it is part of the municipality Syros, Syros-Ermoupoli, of which it is the seat and a municipal unit. It is also the capital of the South Aegean region. The municipal unit has an area of 11.18 km2. Azolimnos Syros is a village on the southeast coast of the Greek island of Syros. Syros belongs to the Cyclades island group. Azolimnos is 6 km from the Syros capital, Ermoupoli. Azolimnos beach is a popular destination for summer holiday makers wishing to go swimming. Saint George's Cathedral (Roman Catholic)
Saint George's Cathedral is the cathedral of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Syros and Milos. It is located in the town of Ano Syros, on the island of Syros Syros ( ), also known as Siros or Syra, is a Greece, Greek island in the Cyclades, in the Aegean Sea. It is south-east of Athens. Several times the temple was rebuilt. In 1617, it was destroyed by the Turks. Since 1652 the church became the cathedral of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Syros and Milos. In 1834, the last time was rebuilt and since then has a modern look. In the church there are the icon of Saint George and the icon of the Mother of God "Panagias tis Elpidas" of artistic and cultural value. South Aegean
The South Aegean (, ) is one of the thirteen administrative regions of Greece. It consists of the Cyclades and Dodecanese island groups in the central and southeastern Aegean Sea. Tinos
Tinos ( ) is a Greek island situated in the Aegean Sea. It forms part of the Cyclades archipelago. The closest islands are Andros, Delos, and Mykonos. It has a land area of and a 2021 census population of 8,934 inhabitants.
