Suwon FC Women ( Korean: 수원 FC 위민) is a South Korean women's football team based in Suwon. They compete in the WK League, the highest division of women's football in South Korea. History In 2007, amid dwindling participation in women's and girls' football nationwide, the Suwon City Government announced its intention to form South Korea's sixth women's works football team. The club was founded in February 2008 as Suwon Facilities Management Corporation WFC. The team has played in the WK League since its inaugural season in 2009. They have won the championship title twice, in 2010 and 2024. Before the 2022 WK League season, the team merged with the Suwon FC men's team and changed their name to Suwon FC Women. Suwon Sports Complex
Suwon Sports Complex () is a group of sports facilities in Suwon, South Korea. The complex consists of the Suwon Stadium, Suwon Baseball Stadium, and Suwon Gymnasium. Facilities Suwon Stadium Suwon Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium and currently used mostly for football matches. Built in 1971, it has a capacity of 11,808 seats and was the home ground of the Suwon Samsung Bluewings until 2001 when they moved to the Suwon World Cup Stadium. The 2012 WK League was the fourth season of the WK League, the top division of women's football in South Korea. The regular season began on 26 March 2012 and ended on 29 October 2012. Defending champions Goyang Daekyo Noonnoppi successfully defended their title. 2021 WK League
The 2021 WK League was the 13th season of the WK League, the top division of women's football in South Korea. The regular season ran from 26 April to 9 November 2021 (originally until 5 October, but was delayed because of the COVID-19 pandemic in South Korea). Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the total amount of rounds were reduced from 28 to 21 (same as the previous season). Teams Stadiums and locations Foreign players The total number of foreign players was restricted to three per club, including a slot for a player from the Asian Football Confederation countries. Boeun Sangmu were not allowed to sign any foreign players due to their military status. The 2020 WK League was the twelfth season of the WK League, the top division of women's football in South Korea. The regular season ran from 15 June to 15 October 2020. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the total amount of rounds were reduced from 28 to 21. Before the season, Gumi Sportstoto relocated to Sejong City. Incheon Hyundai Steel Red Angels won their eighth consecutive title after defeating Gyeongju KHNP in the play-offs final. The 2018 WK League was the tenth season of the WK League, the top division of women's football in South Korea. The regular season began on 23 April 2018 and ended on 22 October 2018. In the off-season, Icheon Daekyo ceased operations, while Changnyeong WFC joined the league. Suwon FMC (Facilities Management Corporation) changed its name to Suwon UDC (Urban Development Corporation). Incheon Hyundai Steel Red Angels won their sixth consecutive title.
