Spanish Folklore
Folklore of Spain encompasses the folklore, Fairy tale, folktales, oral traditions, and (Urban legend, urban) legends of Spain. They span the whole region of the Iberian Peninsula. The origins of these tales date back as far as the 8th century when the Arabs brought their ideas and concepts of national fairytales (Cuento) and folklore to Spain. The Arabian impacts on Spanish folklore would lead to Spain playing a mediator position between the European regions and the Muslim world and culture. Not only would Spain play this crucial role in the Muslim world, but they would also incorporate Indian cultural aspects into their tales and oral traditions. Regional differences In the different regions of Spain, there are different iterations of the existing folklore. Folklore is the body of expressive culture shared by a particular group of people, culture or subculture. This includes oral traditions such as Narrative, tales, myths, legends, proverbs, Poetry, poems, jokes, and other oral traditions. This also includes material culture, such as traditional building styles common to the group. Folklore also encompasses customary lore, taking actions for folk beliefs, including folk religion, and the forms and rituals of celebrations such as Christmas, weddings, folk dances, and Rite of passage, initiation rites. Each one of these, either singly or in combination, is considered a Cultural artifact, folklore artifact or Cultural expressions, traditional cultural expression. Just as essential as the form, folklore also encompasses the transmission of these artifacts from one region to another or from one generation to the next.
