Southern Utah Thunderbirds Basketball
The Southern Utah Thunderbirds men's basketball team is the men's basketball team that represents Southern Utah University in Cedar City, Utah. The school's team currently competes in the Western Athletic Conference. The Thunderbirds are currently coached by Rob Jeter. The student section is known as the Thunderstorm. Postseason NCAA Division I Tournament results The Thunderbirds have appeared in the NCAA tournament once, as tournament champions of the Mid-Continent Conference in 2001. Seeded fourteenth in the East regional, Southern Utah was eliminated in the first round, falling by three points to the third seed, seventh-ranked Boston College. Western Athletic Conference
The Western Athletic Conference (WAC) is an NCAA Division I conference. The WAC covers a broad expanse of the Western United States with member institutions located in Arizona, California, Texas, Utah and Washington (state), Washington. Due to most of the conference's College football, football-playing members leaving the WAC for other affiliations, the conference discontinued football as a sponsored sport after the 2012 NCAA Division I FBS football season, 2012–13 season, left the NCAA's NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision, Football Bowl Subdivision (formerly known as Division I-A) and became one of the NCAA's eleven Division I non-football conferences. 2022–23 Rice Owls Men's Basketball Team
The 2022–23 Rice Owls men's basketball team represented Rice University during the 2022–23 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The team was led by sixth-year head coach Scott Pera, and played their home games at Tudor Fieldhouse in Houston, Texas as members of Conference USA (C-USA). The Owls finished the season 19–16, 8–12 in C-USA play, to finish in a three-way tie for sixth place. As the No. 6 seed in the C-USA tournament, they defeated UTSA before losing to UAB. They received an invitation to the College Basketball Invitational where they defeated Duquesne before losing to Southern Utah in quarterfinals. The 1977 NAIA men's basketball tournament was held in March at Kemper Arena in Kansas City, Missouri. The 40th annual NAIA basketball tournament featured 32 teams playing in a single-elimination format. NAIA Men's Basketball Championships
The NAIA men's basketball national championship has been held annually by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics since 1937 to determine the national champion of men's college basketball among its members in the United States and Canada. The tournament was established by James Naismith to crown a national champion for smaller colleges and universities and has been held every year since, with the exceptions of 1944 (due to World War II) and 2020 (due to the COVID-19 pandemic). The 2022 The Basketball Classic (TBC) was a Single-elimination tournament, single-elimination men's college basketball postseason tournament featuring National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I (NCAA), Division I teams not selected to participate in the 2022 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament, NCAA tournament or the 2022 National Invitation Tournament, National Invitation Tournament (NIT). The tournament began on March 15 with the championship game played on April 1. The tournament was won by the 2021–22 Fresno State Bulldogs men's basketball team, Fresno State Bulldogs. The Basketball Classic presented by Eracism was a Single-elimination tournament, single-elimination, fully-bracketed men's college basketball postseason tournament created in 2022 as a successor to the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament after its scheduled 2020 and 2021 tournaments were cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States, COVID-19 pandemic. The tournament featured up to 32 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I (NCAA), Division I teams not selected to participate in the NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament, the National Invitation Tournament, NIT, or the College Basketball Invitational.
