Sookmyung Women's University () is a private women's research university in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, South Korea. Founded in 1906, Sookmyung is Korea’s first royal private educational institution for women. Sookmyung is one of the world's largest female educational institutes. The university's name is derived from the Hanja characters of ''sook'' and ''Myung'', which mean "elegant" and "bright" respectively. College Scholastic Ability Test (South Korea)
The College Scholastic Ability Test or CSAT (), also abbreviated as Suneung (), is a standardised test which is recognised by South Korean universities. The Korea Institute of Curriculum and Evaluation (KICE) administers the annual test on the third Thursday in November. The CSAT was originally designed to assess the scholastic ability required for college. Because the CSAT is the primary factor considered during the Regular Admission round, it plays an important role in South Korean education. Of the students taking the test, as of 2023, 65 percent are currently in high school and 31 percent are high-school graduates who did not achieve their desired score the previous year. The share of graduates taking the test has been steadily rising from 20 percent in 2011. Despite the emphasis on the CSAT, it is not a requirement for a high school diploma. Sookmyung Girls' High School () is a private girls high school located in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, South Korea. History Sookmyung Girls' High School was founded on May 22, 1906 under the name Myeongsin Girls' School (), and was originally located in Yongdonggung palace. Sookmyung Gayageum Orchestra
The Sookmyung Gayageum Orchestra () is a musical ensemble from South Korea. It was formed in 1999 by music students at Sookmyung Women's University. The ensemble comprises up to 24 ''gayageum'', often accompanied by Korean and Western percussion instruments. The group is often led by a conductor, and its performances sometimes features soloists on instruments such as the ''haegeum'', as well as a cappella groups and breakdance groups such as Last For One. Han Seong-sook (; born 20 June 1967) is a South Korean business executive and former journalist. She served as chief executive officer (CEO) of Naver Corporation from 2017 to 2021.
